A 21-year-old Twentynine Palms Man was taken into custody on Wednesday after police say he led them on a pursuit through Twentynine Palms while committing several dangerous violations on a dirt bike. Deputies from the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station attempted to stop a dirt bike rider on Gorgonio Drive, near Ocotillo Avenue about 8:30 am, according to a news release from the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department. A Marine stationed at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms is dead, officials announced Wednesday. The Marine, who was not identified, collapsed during training and was taken to the hospital, where life-saving measures were attempted. A 23-year-old active duty Marine was arrested on Tuesday for the rape of an unconscious person in Twentynine Palms in June. A late-night adventure to the Old Dale Mining District near Twentynine Palms ended with a 20 hour search and rescue operation this weekend. San Bernardino County Fire crews were called early Sunday to Golden Crown Road, according to a Facebook post. A Twentynine Palms man was arrested at his home on Friday after federal prosecutors claim he made more than 10,000 harassing phone calls to government offices between January and November of this year.
