The English Football League has laid out tentative plans to complete the 2019-20 season over a period of approximately 56 days over the summer, including the play-offs. A letter from EFL chairman Rick Parry to its member clubs advises them to prepare for a return to training activity no earlier than May 16 as the country remains on lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic. Parry said the “working assumption” was that the remaining matches in the 2019-20 season would be played behind closed doors. The loss of matchday revenue has hit EFL clubs hard, and last week the Premier League advanced fu ..read more

Bournemouth and Swansea went head-to-head in the Premier League on March 12, 2016 for just the second time in their history and another entertaining spectacle was expected, with the reverse fixture at the Liberty Stadium ending 2-2 in November 2015. A thriller is exactly what the supporters got, and it was the Cherries who opened the scoring in the 37th minute through Max Gradel, who fired a low strike into the bottom-right corner after Lukasz Fabianski spilled a cross in the area. That lead didn’t last long as the Swans were back on level terms just two minutes later, with Modou Barrow’s cla ..read more

Swansea are enduring a blip in form at the wrong part of the campaign and they have recorded just one victory from their last eight Championship matches, a run of form that has seen the club slip to ninth in the standings. The Welsh outfit have conceded two stoppage-time goals in their last two outings, losing 1-0 to Fulham and drawing 2-2 with Blackburn Rovers – two teams that are also battling for promotion to the Premier League. Ghana international Ayew, who has a contract at the Liberty Stadium until the summer of 2021, is Swansea’s top scorer this season, netting 12 times in the league ..read more

The Swans have dropped to 11th in the table after failing to win any of their last five games in the second tier. Cooper’s men have suffered defeats at the hands of Stoke City and Derby County in recent weeks, but they kept pace with those in the play-offs after drawing with Preston North End, Queens Park Rangers and Hull City. Cooper was left frustrated after his team failed to get the job done at the KCOM Stadium, but they are back on home soil against Huddersfield Town this weekend. The arrival of Marc Guehi, Rhian Brewster and Conor Gallagher was expected to give the club a massive lift a ..read more

The Chelsea midfielder joined the Welsh club on loan in the January transfer window, with the Blues happy to recall him from his loan spell at fellow Championship outfit Charlton Athletic. Gallagher enjoyed a successful loan spell at The Valley, scoring six goals for the Addicks before moving on. The 20-year-old has already made six appearances for the Swans since his switch, but he has failed to have the same success at the Liberty Stadium. Gallagher has not gone unnoticed though, with the playmaker picking up three assists during that time. The England Under-21 international registered two ..read more

Leeds’ Kalvin Phillips, West Brom’s Nathan Ferguson and Brentford’s Ollie Watkins have all been linked to clubs in the Promised Land. However, further down the standings, players are excelling for their sides who would also surely relish a crack at the top flight. Eberechi Eze Queen’s Park Rangers’ Eze is hardly a new name to most but deserves recognition in this category. Born in Greenwich, the 21-year-old first found himself at Millwall but was released in 2016, going on to a short spell working in Tesco, before being handed a trial by Chris Ramsey. Clubcall sources can confirm City representatives have been keeping tabs on the 22-year-old Welshman this season and have earmarked Rodon as a potential replacement for Nicolas Otamendi, who looks likely to move on this summer.  The 22-year-old Wales international has been scouted regularly since he returned to Steve Cooper’s starting line-up earlier this month after recovering from an ankle injury that had sidelined him since October. That led The Daily Mail to claim City are considering Rodon as one of two centre backs they intend to sign as they look to make amends for not replacing V ..read more

Cooper’s side approached their 0-0 draw with Queens Park Rangers as a chance to close the gap on the Championship’s play-off places but appeared reticent to attack the division’s third worst defence. As a result, the hosts at the Liberty Stadium managed just eight shots in the game, none of which hit the target.
