The Navy is moving me from southern California to Washington state which means I'm moving my plane from KOXR to 0S9 and am in the early planning stages to figure out a route and I'm hoping ya'll can help me out with any insight on places to stop or avoid. I'll be going with another pilot that is a CFII which could help me build more IFR time as I am getting close to having the required minimum for my checkride but also gives me another pilot in the event we run into any snags. My initial...

Having recently completed the Flight Instructor Airplane Initial check ride, I thought it would be helpful to provide some insight on navigating what is arguably the least straight forward rating with regards on how to prepare and navigate from A to Z.
The CFI certificate is a teaching certificate moreso than a flying certificate although both are involved. Your instructor needs to teach you to teach. You need to learn and love the FOI. And you need to be organized. You’re going to...

I have a Piper Turbo Arrow III (PA-28R-201T) that needs an autopilot. The current panel is an Aspen Pro Max PFD, G5 backup AI, GTN 750, GTX 345, an old King backup NAV2, an actual working King DME, and a JPI 900.
The current autopilot situation is clunky and now broken. It has an STEC 30 standalone alt hold for vertical, which still works fine. The ailerons are driven by an Autocontrol IIIB (basically a rebranded Century IIB) which is connected to the Aspen for GPSS. It recently became...

This article talks about a star that is spinning fast. Really fast.
I want to calculate the star's speed at its equator in mph.
ie: if the speed of a 'star particle' on the surface, at the fastest point (the equator if that is the right term for stars) could be measured with a celestial speed trap, what would it be?
(I think its saying 716rps and a dia of 12mi)
Do your calculation and then compare to my rough math below, let me know if I was off.
I get roughly 97million mph...

I'm looking at buying a plane, O-320, but I think they broke in their engine after an IRAN with Philips multi weight rather than straight weight or mineral oil. How big a deal is that? I think they have about a 100 hours on it now. Would any issues have surfaced or is this a non-issue ..read more

I have a bunch of stuff sitting around in the hangar I never use. All was working when removed or last used. I put some prices on each because I have to as per terms & conditions but please note, you can make me any offer you want. I really don’t want to post this stuff on eBay and deal with that platform. Any offer is plus shipping from Dallas or pickup in the Dallas area.
KT76 TSO Transponder: $250
Please note, this is not the KT76a or c. It’s just the TSO version. It comes with the...
