Gents About a month ago I replaced a leaking garden tap for my sister, straight swap - old off new on. Since then she is getting a loud drumming from the cold water system when any cold feed appliance calls for water - washing machine, dishwasher, toilet, tap, etc. The noise stops if the hot tap is turned on. I've done tap replacements loads of times but never had this issue before. Any ideas how to fix this? Her husband has dementia so I'm trying to help out where I can and she's not... Hi all, Looking for some advice on a low level toilet. We’re looking to replace the cistern, the pan itself is in good condition just needs a good clean. I’ve seen online that close coupled/low level cisterns aren’t interchangeable but then noticed some seem to be advertised as working for both. Would anyone be able to say whether these two could work, they seem to be slightly more traditional and pop up when I google low level cistern replacement... Low level toilet cistern ..read more

Hi all, Just taken out an old hidden thermostatic shower valve and will be replacing with an external thermostatic valve. Feed is pumped using Salamander CT80B through 22mm. New valve is max 3 bar, 15mm inlets. Can I fit 90 degree 22mm to 15mm reducer just before the valve (feed pipes come down from the loft)? Thanks, Chris ..read more

Hi all, any ideas on how straightforward it would be to install a mega flow system given that I already have a combi boiler? My water pressure I believe is ok as I have a blue plastic pipe coming in from source. Main reason for wanting a mega flow is so that we can run more than one shower at the same time and have hot water with decent pressure. Also, roughly how much would such a work cost ..read more

My bath became unstable so I've adjusted the legs but there's slight movement on the edges so can you recommend something to stop it flexing. I was thinking of squirting some stixall in between the bath and wall then glue some off cuts of wood to the wall under the rim of the bath ..read more

Having issues with low pressure on my Worcester Greenstar 4000. I have identified that it needs a key, I have inserted the key and turned the white block next to it clockwise. I keep turning but hear no running water. If I turn it too much water starts pouring out. I have left the white block turned but still the pressure remains the same ..read more

Would appreciate any advice - please understand, I’m not at all knowledgeable about anything plumbing related so keep your responses simple please I live in a new build property (8 years old now) which was built by a national building company with a shocking reputation. I put a nail into my living room wall at a depth of about cm and hit a gas pipe. The emergency plumber has capped off the gas as his testing equipment showed it was dropping immediately and not holding at all. My question... Nail in a gas pipe ..read more

Conventional boiler system: pump runs continuously

This is a mid 80's balanced flue boiler system with Honeywell Programmer room and water tank thermostats and 10mm feeds to the rads. Yesterday I noticed the boiler cycling: 1min on and 2mins off, despite neither the water programme, nor the room thermostat calling for heat. Most rads stinging hot, as is the water and just one rad only warm. My local Gas Safe heating engineer kindly took time out from his own bathroom upgrade to attempt to sort it but was foxed because despite both therms...
