Chalk up another for the Power of Posting.  I figured it out.  The solution I used is already posted on this forum, however, the file I needed to change is no longer found where it used to be, I just had to locate it and make the correct change.  Here is the skinny The file I needed to change was: /Users/user/Library/Application Support/org.inkscape.Inkscape/config/inkscape/extensions/axidraw_deps/plotink/ebb_serial.py Then I changed line 64 from:  if port.startswith("EiBotBoard"): To: if port.startswith("Arduino"):   Voila, it works. Cheers -Bob ..read more

One more Mac that doesn't work

I just built my sphere-o-bot a couple of weeks ago and it took awhile to get it to work on Windows 10.  My final solution was to install the Arduino software on the Windows box to get the properly named device driver. However, I'd really rather use this on my MacBook Pro and so far that's not working.  I can talk to the Arduino Zero with Arduino software, the device shows up as: /dev/cu.usbmodem1412401 And I can see it with ioreg: ioreg -p IOUSB +-o Root <class IORegistryEntry, id 0x100000100, retain 15> +-o AppleUSBXHCI Root Hub Simulation@14000000 <class AppleUSBRootHubDev ..read more

Like you I'm having problems with my MacBook Pro and so far I've had no luck. However, I have gotten it working on my Windows 10 box.  I had to install the Arduino software to get the correct device driver.  Once I did that everything started working. I am hoping someone will help with the Mac ..read more

Disappointed. Can not connect

Hi, I'm an aspiring tinkerer who chooses projects with explicit directions so I can learn how things are done.  I was drawn to this project because it seemed quite simple.  I didn't see that there was a forum and if I had it would have been clear that connecting is a common problem.  I'm used to doing Adafruit projects and haven't had any problems connecting ever.  I've followed the directions and tried connecting on two different PCs running windows 10 and a Macbook Pro M1.  Off to read through all the can't connect threads and try everything I read.  Some of the ..read more

RE: Arm Slams Sides if INITIALIZE_TO_MAXIMUNS is set

Yes. that movement is needed to move the arm until it touches phisical objects and the motors miss steps. As the robot know where those objects are, the arm knows how the forearm and arm are placed. It is a way to calibrate the arm ..read more

RE: Endstops for Armbot

Hi  Not yet. But we are working on it. Currently, the robot makes a "self" calibration at the beginning of the start process. It will move to the sides and lose steps so it "knows" where the arm is. The original 3D printers did that calibration process when the end-stop were not so common ..read more
