Finally managed to get CO2 for my tap system, but I've had another snag. Flat beer. I've got a keg of black lager and a keg of Irish red ale in there, both of which taste great, but are flat as the proverbial pancake. I've tried cranking up the psi on the regulator, checked for leaks, nothing. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I've probably overlooked something vital... 'elp ..read more

Starmer should button his lip about overturning the law to ship illegals straight out to Rwanda without seeing if it works.
It certainly worked in Australia when Australia shipped them out to New Guinea. Now Labor is back in power here the illegal immigrants are turning up again ..read more

I started a 2 gallon brew of parsnip wine on 2/1/24
Fermentation was in a plastic FV before transferring to the glass demi johns.
I filled one demi john but did not have enough to fill the second; so added a liter of apple and ginger juice form the supermarket to make up the difference.
Fermentaion has gone well and now finished.
The first demi john is very clear but the one with the apple and ginger juice is still cloudy.
Any thoughts on clearing it? Finings? Or should I not bother and...

Hello folks,
Fermentaton is great, isn't it? I got started with sourdough, then yogurt and other foodstuffs. Started making myself some kvass and my recipe just kept getting more and more complicated and when I started adding extra sugar for a stronger result and hops to extend the shelf left leading to a much more beer-y flavour I realised that at I might as well just brew beer instead. So here I am.
I made my very first beer two weeks ago; something that was supposed to be a saison. It...

All over 5 live today.
How did a £200 limit before you are prosecuted ever become a thing, shop keepers are phoning in saying thieves are walking into shops filling holdalls and walking out knowing nothing will be done.
One small shop owner with 16 local staff lost £26,000 last year, this is crazy ..read more

I have another thread running on the problem of the traditional floating ball and filter set up in a Fermzilla Gen2. It got stuck - no flow, and until it started I never really found out why. I was always sceptical of the angle of the filter and how it alternated between poking above the surface and being submerged. Sucking up air (co2) seemed always a hazard. Plus I don’t like the way it stops at the point of leaving a couple of litres or so above the trub bed.
My search for a solution led...

Question borne out of curiosity.
I’ve just taken a gravity sample of a pale ale I brewed at the weekend.
Aiming for a FG of 1.012 and it’s already down at 1.008.
It’s a pale ale with Maris Otter, caramalt, wheat and a bit of crystal.
Sample was a lot drier than intended and I’d expected more sweetness at this stage.
I’ll probably leave as is and take it for what it is, but it got me to thinking what would happen if I steeped some crystal and added it to the fermentor. Anyone tried...
