Members of Redding Tai Chi gather every Saturday in the McConnell Arboretum and Gardens for Tai Chi practice. On a recent Saturday, the seasonal pond, filled by recent rains, added a serene backdrop. It was a particularly quiet morning with a light rain falling as we practiced. Towards the end of our session, an otter swam near us and crawled onto the bank of the pond. We observed its playful antics—stretching, scratching, and rolling on the bank—for about 15 minutes. The Arboretum is a wonderful place to practice Tai Chi. We are there throughout the year, each Saturday. Click on the link belo ..read more

We were delighted to see a strong turnout for our 9th annual Start the New Year with Tai Chi event. The session included a practice of the Yang style long form, complemented by captivating demonstrations of Tai Chi Cane by Curtis Remark, Tai Chi sword, and the two-person San shou form. In the group picture above, the Chinese characters at the top read “Xin Nian Kuai Le” and translate to “Happy New Year”, capturing the spirit of the occasion. The majority of attendees were either current students or former students, and it was nice to welcome several newcomers eager to explore the art of Tai C ..read more

In the summer of 2015, we began meeting once a month for Tai Chi practice. By the end of that summer, we decided to continue our gatherings throughout the year. When COVID hit a few years ago, we had to suspend our regular indoor classes temporarily. However, we opted to meet weekly outdoors instead, and we have continued this tradition ever since. Today marked the last Tai Chi practice of 2023, and despite the potential for rain, a few of us decided to embrace the elements and meet anyway. Here’s a picture we took after we finished ..read more
