Does anyone have any recommendations for tripods or mounts for holding a smartphone when filming on trains? Ideally, I would not have to hold onto the camera whilst it records the scenery from the window and the camera would remain secure when the train goes over a set of points. I usually point the camera at an angle towards the window.
Currently, I use a Joby GorillaPod which works for some trains but does not work for others, such as Hitachi trains, as the window sill is significantly...

Hi folks - some advice please. A Belmond charter train from Edinburgh Waverley to Gleneagles was at platform 2 this afternoon. I started taking pix of the sunlight on the coaches when one of the train people told me that it was a private function and that I couldn’t take pictures - I was on the other side of the barrier and taking pictures of the coaches, no people - I said this and the guy reluctantly said ok. Anyone else encountered this?

Hello everyone. I'm really quite new to the whole photography thing but I've been bus spotting for years and also have an interest in lorries. I saw a post on here recently about someone buying a Canon EOS 2000D DSLR camera and IS 18-55 lens and it inspired me to get one myself. I'm able to get really good shots when the vehicle is stationary or moving very slowly but anything even slightly quicker comes out blurred. I get that I need to expect a slight bit of blur sometime but its the...

I have a Sony DSC-HX200V camera that's quite a few years old now.
Typically, the pictures taken using it have been about 800 KB - 1.1 MB. Recently, inadvertantly, I ended up in the settings menu, and getting back out of that I seem to have changed something. Pictures taken now are enormous: 4.5 to 8MB.
Is there a way to change something in settings to restore picture size back to where it was? I'm off on holiday in a couple of weeks, and wonder if I will run out of memory space in the...

I appreciate this is a vague question, but can anyone recommend (or advise what you use) as a good auto focus lens for bus photography? I've been using the kit lens (18-200mm currently) but think I could do better.

Hello
I believe this only works on Windows 10 or later computers. Is this correct? Also, will it be backward compatible with "ancient" Canon DSLR cameras (e.g. 5D and cousins, 30D, 7D etc ..read more

Hello all. I'm now starting to look for a DSLR camera that is suitable for bus photography. It would be my first DSLR camera and I've only ever used very standard digital cameras beforehand. I'm looking for something that would give me the sharpest images possible, the best features to use for the hobby and one that can do a decent job at capturing vehicles on the move, sometimes at some speed. Does anyone have any recommendations or advice on models or where to look please ..read more
