Lately I have been getting emails on my computer at home, text messages on my phone and notifications on my iPad that my iCloud storage is almost full !! To upgrade to an additional 200GB, I will need to pay $2.99 per month. The thing is, I don't remember ever subscribing to iCloud ? Actually I'm not too crazy about having my images stored where who knows who has access to them. I purchsed my iPad with 256GB extra storage. I had to pay to get this extra storage, it wasn't free. Living in Florida I only saw a partial eclipse.  I had heard that during a total eclipse things got very dark and shadows from tree leaves took on a surrealistic appearance.  There was no longer direct light from a   ball in the sky but lighting from a circular source in the sky causing strange shadows. Many people joined large crowds such as at the grandstand at Indianapolis speedway.  They saw just as much as the people at home watching on television, just staring up at the sky. I haven't posted photos on PN for many years. In conversation with another PN member I realized that it was high time I updated my 'Personal Album' with some photos that were less than 10 years old ?. In that period, 95% of the photos I take are as a 'voluntary photographer' for various local not-for-profit organizations. They have implicit 'ownership' over the publication of my photos (whatever the laws say) so it just doesn't feel right to me to publish these photos on PN. I have a bunch of my wife's father's and grandfather's negs and prints. They date from the 1920s to 1940 or so, maybe some later. Most are nitrate base. A lot are big roll film, 115 mm wide, cut into singles. They seem to be the oldest. Others are small sheet film. One roll of Panatomic. Not X, just Panatomic, on nitrate base from the edge label. Unfortunately, a huge number of these are overexposed, underexposed or just plain blurry. Never have one or two people shot so much film and improved so little.
