Berea woman accused of abusing her 6-month-old

BEREA, Ky. (WTVQ) — A Berea woman was arrested last week after being accused of abusing her 6-month-old. On Dec. 22, Hannah Rupard took her baby to a local clinic; doctors said the baby needed to be seen at UK Hospital for treatment, according to Berea police. When Rupard, 21, took her baby to the hospital the same day, a social worker called the police. When officers arrived at the hospital, they say Rupard admitted that she hit her 6-month-old three times in the head, causing bruising. RICHMOND, Ky. (WTVQ) — Funeral arrangements have been announced for Madison County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Sam Manley. Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 18 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Church on the Rock in Berea. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, Dec. 19 at noon, also at Church on the Rock. Burial will follow, at the Madison County Memorial Garden. The sheriff’s office will serve as Honor guard and pallbearers alongside family. BEREA, Ky. (WTVQ) — A call originally for animal neglect in Berea led to two parents being charged with abuse concerning their five children. In September, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on Harrison King Lane for a complaint of animal neglect. The initial investigation into the animal neglect complaint led to a call for assistance from the Department of Community Based Services. BEREA, Ky. (WTVQ) — A Berea woman is accused of taking Kentucky State Police on a high-speed pursuit into Garrard County while her child was in the backseat of her car last week. According to an arrest citation, Laila Winfield was stopped on Chestnut Street in Berea for only having on working taillight on Friday, Oct. 20 around 7 p.m. She was also allegedly not wearing a seatbelt. Berea man dies after motorcycle, truck collision in Rockcastle Co.

MT. VERNON, Ky. (WTVQ) — A 62-year-old man driving a motorcycle has died after a collision involving a truck in Rockcastle County on Sunday. The crash happened yesterday around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of US 25 North and the exit 59 ramp of I-75. A 50-year-old man was driving a truck off the exit ramp when he pulled out in front of the man driving a motorcycle, according to Kentucky State Police. BEREA, Ky. (WTVQ) — A Berea man has been arrested for allegedly shooting at officers twice at his home on Redbud Drive. According to his arrest citation, Berea police arrived at Daniel Lewis’ home for a call of shots being fired. Once there, police say they tried to “de-escalate” the situation in the backyard and that’s when Lewis allegedly pointed a rifle at officers and shot multiple times. BEREA, Ky. (WTVQ) — A Berea middle school teacher who was arrested in March for sex crime-related charges against children appeared in court again Thursday. Christopher Workman was seen for a pretrial conference, however instead, it was rescheduled for Oct. 5. The 39-year-old is listed as a language arts teacher on the Farristown Middle School’s staff directory. He was arrested on March 2.
