Am I crazy for feeling the seasonal vibes already? I know it’s still October, but hey, I’m already in the vibes. On that note, let me take you to my last Christmas. One of the most magical, memorable Christmases I’ve had. And we happened to spend it at the Ritz-Carlton in Bangalore. Sri Sharavi Beach Villas

If you ask me, the Green season is my absolute favorite season to be in the south by the sea. And the few days we spent at Sri Sharavi Beach Villas, one of the most outstanding Mirissa hotels I’ve been to, have been nothing short of magical. The first thing you see out your room of this beautiful boutique hotel is the vast ocean, winking at you, stretching into eternity. The cool sea breeze caressing your skin as you dine by the sea or simply take a dip in (probably) the largest salt water pool in the island – ah bliss! The water is just the right temperature and invites you to simply, float a ..read more

Cruising the Open Seas with Sail Lanka

Our cruise with Sail Lanka on the Ocean Diamond started on a beautiful sunny afternoon from Mirissa. Once onboard, all I wanted to do was prance around the deck where the sun seemed to hit so perfecty in that beautifully honeyed afternoon glow. The blueness of the water, the golden sunshine hitting the deck, you couldn’t ask for more! We were shown to our rooms which were in the lower deck and were swept away by the view from the room. The room opened onto the deck which could be partitioned separately to preserve your privacy. It was cosy with ample room and we were more than happy. After a ..read more

The sweetness from the apples and the piquant caraway seeds complement the fragrant spicing of Nuremberg sausages so well. Paired with a glass of cold beer, and maybe some potato wedges and beer battered onion rings, well that’s my Oktoberfest right at home! These Elephant House sausages are available at Spar and Arpico supermarkets as well as via https://www.meathouse.lk/oktoberfest-range Also, did you check out my other Oktoberfest recipe? I used Weiswurst sausages in this one and served it up with mashed potatoes. So so good! Try and let me know what you think :) The post Braised cabbage &a ..read more

Beer-braised Weisswurst Sausages

I served these up with a creamy garlic mash which was the perfect accompaniment for the braise. The kick from the beer combined with tomatoes and caramelized onions creates the perfect flavor palette for the gamey Weisswurst to shine. It was absolutely perfect for the cosy weather, paired up of course, with a mug of cold beer. Instead of beer, you can substitute chicken or beef stock (but I it would not And also, these Elephant House sausages are available at Spar and Arpico supermarkets including online at https://www.meathouse.lk/oktoberfest-range The post Beer-braised Weisswurst Sausages ap ..read more

You’ve probably come across this unique building in the Galle Fort and wondered what it would be to see the inside of it. Well, I had the distinct pleasure. And I’m here to tell you all about it! A little bit of history Originally an 18th century Dutch mansion, the Fort Printers was once a mansion, then a school and eventually, a traditional printing company. This is where the inspiration for the rather unique name of the hotel has come from. I immediately fell in love with the aesthetics of the place. The Galle Fort is and will always be one of my favorite places on earth and having always pr ..read more

Club Ceylon, Negombo – Doing it right!

Club Ceylon opened its doors in Negombo recently and while we missed the opening due to a prior commitment, we were invited to a quiet dinner later. I do not rave and that is a statement. But @clubceylon housed in a beautifully restored colonial mansion has that rare sophistication, elegance and that ‘je ne sais quoi’ that is part and parcel of the place. I loved the place instantly. It is very rare that I connect with a place at this level and this right here is a place after my own heart. We pretty much had everything on the menu & waddled home, tummies full & happy. How many of you buy readymade hummus from the store? Do you know what goes in it – which preservatives, flavors, colors etc that can be harmful to your health? How can you be sure? The truth is, you can never be sure.
