Pull up a chair, and let's have a chat over a cup of steamy, soul-warming hot chocolate (vegan this time? yas). I finally shared it on my instagram Monday, so I feel it must be shared here too. But before I get really intimate, let's set the mood. Have you heard of the artist Izzy Bizu? Or what about any of the musical makings of Sonder. Play "Too fast". Or, since Christmas is now only just 5 days away, if you want something more in tune with the holidays, maybe some throwbacks to Luther Vandross's sultry songs and voice, Boyz II Men, Mary J. or Leon Bridges' "River"--not Christmas them ..read more

THE FILLING: Maca is marvelous. I know I must've shared my thoughts on this root a while back on here... I even wrote about it in a Starbucks cookbook this summer and how it reminds me of butterscotch--the good stuff. And because it's in powdered form when I get it, I'm tickled to add it to my apple pie's insides instead of using regular flour to thicken it. Maca doesn't just thicken it, it adds good flavor too. And 2-in-1-ingredients are my fav.
I put the maca in with my sliced apples and let it all marinate overnight until it turned into a wonderful melange of sweet, smoky cinna ..read more

BUDGET FRIENDLY HEALTHY-ISH VEGETARIAN MEALS
Committing to starting and owning a new business that operates successfully under New Age principles has to be the hardest thing we’ve ever tried to do. (The two philosophies often conflict!) While I haven’t had the emotional strength or mental capacity to blog about it in real-time during the chaos of making my way through it, I have learned so much about myself in this past year alone. Happy to say, the fog is finally clearing so I can truly begin to appreciate all the hardships and lessons and take a new perspective on the current challeng ..read more

I'm so excited to be working with Morton Salt again on a sponsored post to share some yummy cookies! I always finish my cookies with a sprinkling of sea salt, and their sea salt, in particular, vibed perfectly with each of these recipes.
I baked off three kinds of cookies to celebrate our 4th:
RED (Rose Rhubarb Almond Thumbprint Cookies-my favorite of the bunch if I had to choose)
WHITE (Rum + Coconut Mexican Wedding Cookies)
and
BLUEberry (snickerdoodles!)
All finished with a sprinkling of Morton Salt Coarse Sea Salt finishing salt.
We’ll actually be in the air this 4th ..read more

Popping Cava by 3pm on a Sunday and eating bread that's full of delicious personality-- this was how I chose to solidify the beginnings of my 28. Well, this plus an in-depth horoscope reading from the AstroTwins --I'm pleased to announce that this year's forecast looks promising!
I've been holding off on eating gluten and sugar. I think it's been something like 52 days, give or take two slip-ups? I warned you I was taking a break, but something deep in me, maybe a craving, was awakened last week, and I had a flash of insight for how to put away a pint of strawberries--"Ah. I will wrap t ..read more

So lately, things have been feeling just a little bit chaotic, so I set an intention to simplify things that I DO have control over, including my fridge by downsizing on what I buy, going back to basics, compartmentalizing what I already have, sterilizing old glass jars in my fridge for pickling or other recipes, and asking myself if I "Can Can It."
Not only has it made my life feel a little more under control, I feel freed from some of my food waste worries.
Morton Salt is super cool and they are who I worked with on this project. They challenged me and everyone else too to start think ..read more
