Was doing the last DJ Switch Boot replacement and helper spring install when I found this. I unplug the motor to test the switch before and after the install. When all checks out, I plug the motor back in and reset the machine. Well this Did NOT look good. (Pics 1 & 2) If you look closely you can see the burnt contact in the receptacle. (Pic 3) I carefully disassembled it by crushing the crap out of it in the vise. (Pics 4 & 5) Picked up a new plug and receptacle: NEMA Rated. Guess what ??? These Japanese Machines are all fitted with non-NEMA components and the wiring is completely non ..read more

Continuous pit motor 8270

Had a C-1 burnout so I refitted wire ends on the machine side. Spare chassis was hooked up and after machine was plugged in the pit motor started immediately. No power had been turned on at front desk. The only way to stop the motor was to unplug machine. BE relay isn't stuck. Next I put a known good chassis on the machine and still had the running pit. Again.BE relay was not stuck. I put that chassis back on the machine I removed it from and now the pit motor is doing the very same on that machine! Someone please help me solve this issue ..read more

Okay, I will be as detailed as I can on this. The initial problem through trouble shooting the lane. Swiping my hand in front of the ball sensor I noticed the machine would not engage at all, wait 6 seconds then black out. I tried to bring the machine back up by just flipping the switch off then back on, hit the reset button to set a full rack and nothing would happen. The machine would not engage and 6 seconds after it would black out. Tuesday April 16 one of my lanes indicated code 76 right as league was almost complete. Wednesday I came in early and got to work. Starting out, I went to the ..read more

Circuit Board Repairs

Looking for a company that repairs specific circuit boards used in bowling centers. For example: Qubica/AMF Harmony ball return control board. The Bowlers Journal and Bowling Management magazines use to be a good source in the back pages to find repair technicians familiar with the operation of specific boards used in bowling center equipment. Any suggestions other than buying new ones. Thanks ..read more

Pin entering turret problem
Bowl-Tech
by Jack_Sparrow

I have one machine that is having a problem with the nine pin as it enters the turret. The six vertical pins all bounce quite a bit when the top of the pin hits the inside turret wire. However only the nine it acting up. The head of the pin will get on the wrong side of the outside turret wire as the turret tries to index. This will jam the turret and cause further problems. Is there any way to dampen the bouncing? Other ideas ..read more

Zot Wizard Foul -> Steltronic API

Hello everyone! Firstly, this is my first post and I'm glad to be able to have a forum I can reference to and ask questions. I have recently fixed the ZOT Wizard foul lines at the center where I work that have been unoperational for ~<15 years. The only issue is that when we removed our Classic scorer and installed steltronic in 2017, the foul units were never wired to the API. The cables running down to the pinsetter from the ZOT Wizard unit are not connected to the main PCB but are instead connected to the foul light bulbs (12 or 24 Volts) through a splitter. There are 4 wires total in th ..read more

Rake Shaft defect (Quality 3-piece)

Over this past weekend, I (and one of the other mechanics who luckily came in to get some hours, thank goodness) endured the most trying Sweep Shaft replacement that I (we) have ever experienced up to this point...in ANY back end. Depending on responses here, I'll post some of the photos I took incrementally during the job. My Question is: Has anyone here ever had a Quality 3-piecer (P/N 12-2585) that had one of the shoulders on such an outward aiming projection (in our case it was the 7-side "shoulder") that when you bolted the main shaft into the pinsetter frame, it had at least a 1/4" ov ..read more
