Has anyone been watching the action?  It's held in my area at historic Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park, MI. I've been recording the shows, and watching replays while skipping through most of the action.   Sorry if I haven't posted that much, just got through my busy season at work.  It's been a grueling 2 last two months for me.   Category: General bowling discussion ..read more

Wanting to Simplify My Game

It continues to be quite obvious that returning to bowling after a long layoff and the fact that I now have reached Senior Geezer status my skills are just memories of past glories.  It is kind of amazing that as bad as my performance has been I still love this game.  Because of this I am in the process of trying to simplify my game to perhaps allow me to make some improvements or at least return to some level of respectability.  Over this past year I have been impressed with the skills and discipline of the Lady Professionals.  Their fundamental rich styles ..read more

Returning to bowling after multiple decades away from the game has been a real gut punch to my ego. I stopped bowling in my late 30s and restarted bowling in my late 70s. I can attest first hand that this has been a monumental challenge. Now certainly is not "back in the day" and my old man mind and body is nowhere near what it was all those years ago. The bottom line has been that I have not been able to re-capture the skills of my youth. My mental and physical game still has a long way to go but I still think I can get there although it will likely only be a shell of my former self. My spare ..read more

I won't spoil who won in case you guys haven't watched it yet. But holy cow the winner got stupid lucky, so many crossovers. All in all it wasn't a very good show, definitely the worst of this season. Category: General bowling discussion ..read more

So I was subbing for my brother in his league last night at a local 48-lane center.  In the middle of the second game the power went out...cut in and out a few times within 15 seconds, then was out for good.  There was a high wind warning last night and apparently an electrical transformer blew somewhere in the area.  It was actually kind of fun, sitting around in the (mostly) dark center chatting with people.  Eventually the center announced they were going to close and we all started packing up.  The unlucky folks had their bowling balls stuck in the pits (or worse ..read more

Mega Dry Lanes

Yesterday the league lanes were bone dry. Even the traditional puddle in the middle of the lane was dry. It did not matter where you threw the ball it always returned without any, None, Nada oil tracks on the ball. The Phaze 2 and the Black Widow were both hook monsters and very hard to control. No matter what I did the amount of hook did not change. The only ball that I was using that was predictable with my Storm Ice spare ball. No matter what the conditions are the ice is straight as an arrow. I may have missed an opportunity to throw the ice as my strike ball by playing a straight shot wit ..read more
