MARSHFIELD — Marshfield High School is bringing back a familiar face as the school’s next Tigers girls’ basketball coach. Heidi Michaelis is returning after a six-year absence.
Michaelis will return to where her coaching career began. During her first seventeen seasons in Marshfield from 2001-2018, Michaelis amassed 305 wins, nine 20-win seasons, eight Wisconsin Valley Conference championships, 11 sectional appearances, and four WIAA State Tournament appearances.

PITTSVILLE — The family and the home are gone now, but the images of a tragic spring day in 2008 never did leave the memories of those in Pittsville who knew Mason Stasheck. MARSHFIELD – The mother of a Marshfield student enrolled in the Wisconsin National Guard’s Challenge Academy at Fort McCoy is asking for words of encouragement for those who aren’t getting much support from home.
“I want people to write some letters because there’s a lot of kids at this academy that don’t even get letters,” Tiffany (Miller) Fritz told Hub City Times in a recent interview.

MARSHFIELD – The City of Marshfield and Marshfield Clinic Health System have avoided a Circuit Court trial and have reached an agreement over a property tax dispute. The agreement was approved by the Marshfield Common Council March 12 on a vote of 9-0 with one alderman abstaining, following a 40-minute closed session. Marshfield Clinic officials then signed the out-of-court settlement the following morning.

MARSHFIELD – For just the third time under the modern-day system – and the first time in a decade – the city of Marshfield now sits entirely in one Assembly district.
Gov. Tony Evers on Feb. 19 signed 2023 Wisconsin Act 94, which adopts new legislative maps effective immediately, and which are now in place ahead of this fall’s elections.
The Wisconsin Supreme Court previously ruled Wisconsin’s legislative maps were unconstitutional.

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – A reported traffic accident that investigators say wasn’t sent two Wood County residents to the hospital.
The Wood County Sheriff’s Department was called just after 11 p.m. on March 1 to the Town of Dexter, for an injured 85-year-old man. The individual was transported by ambulance to the Marshfield Medical Center. The investigation led Wood County Deputies to the City of Pittsville, where an injured 69-year-old woman was located. That individual was transported privately to the Marshfield Medical Center at a later time.

MARSHFIELD – Nearly a year after district voters rejected a proposed $99.5 million referendum for new and renovated facilities, officials with the School District of Marshfield are revisiting their long-range building needs.

MARSHFIELD — A child playing with matches has left a Marshfield mobile home – with no immediate hydrant access – a total loss.
This mobile home, at 2215 South Maple Ave., Lot 497, was destroyed by fire Jan. 30, started by a child playing with matches. (Mike Warren photo)
Marshfield Fire and Rescue Department crews responded shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 30 to a structure fire at 2215 Maple Ave., Lot 497. Crews were told there was a fire in a bedroom of the home, owned by Antonia Ruacho.
