I'm 45 and just starting to get running with some jogging and walking. I've had to go to just walking because my knees are hurting now when I'm actually running.
I used to be a catcher in baseball for a while and over the years I've had only occasional soreness in my knees. Nothing chronic by any means.
What do do now?
I'd like to actually jog/run but can't with the pain ..read more

My wife and I have started running our long driveway early in the morning.
We measured it to be 105 feet.
With the goal being 1 mile that works out to 50 laps on the driveway.
However, the Asics Run keeper app is not showing 1 mile completed after doing the 59 laps.
My wife's Apple Health app also shows her completing just short of 1 mile.
What's going on here?
Is our measurement of driveway wrong? We used a walking measuring device (wheeled ..read more

I have developed swelling and discomfort in the tibialis anterior while marathon training and as a symptom the discomfort occurs when the foot is in dorsiflexion (toes pointed up or heal striking).
I am due to run in the Berlin Marathon in 3 - 4 weeks and I appreciate that it would not be healed 100% by then I am looking for advice on damage limitation.
In particular, from doing research I would like to know more in-depth about the healing process.
Using what is known as R.I.C.E. technique...

I am a 21 year old girl who has just been diagnosed with mild to severe osteoarthritis in both my knees and I am wrecked. I have been lying in bed for three days crying because I have been told I’ll never run again.
I don’t know what to do. I can’t believe this has happened to me so young. I am so scared for my future, I am in pain now, what’s this going to be like in a couple of years ? I cannot bear to think.
I have heard varying accounts/facts and studies on whether or not it is good to...

We're going to be on holiday in France over the Christmas period, and I'd like to plan a few runs in the area in which we are staying.
What's the best app or site to use for finding trails and mostly off-road runs in France? I live in Cornwall and primarily use footpaths/bridleways and the SW coast path for my runs. Something similar for coastal France would be great.
Thanks ..read more

I will try and keep it short. Basically about a month ago had pain on lateral side of left knee that felt sharp to the point where I had to take two weeks off. Pain subsided so went back to it only to pull up short half a mile on first run back with clicking/snapping feeling in same spot mid run. Physically couldnt walk for 2 days and couldn't bend knee, swelling on left side. Fast forward 4 weeks and whilst it is a lot better knee is still painful to touch on lateral side right next to knee...
