Photo by Mike Mulholland/Getty Images Rangers 1, Tigers 0 Rangers 1, Tigers 0 That was a 1-0 win, folks. Behind new Rangers ace Michael Lorenzen and multi-inning fireman Jose Leclerc, with closer Kirby Yates finishing things off. Just like we drew it up before the season. This was one of those low-scoring games where it didn’t seem so much that the pitchers were pitching particularly well, as that the hitters on each team seemed to be using pool noodles at the plate quite a bit. There were also a fair amount of hard hit balls, particularly by the Tigers, that were caught. Michael Lorenzen thr ..read more

9-8 - Double plays help Lorenzen to debut win for Rangers

Photo by Mike Mulholland/Getty Images One run sufficed for Texas in the series-opening win The Texas Rangers scored once while the Detroit Tigers scored none. Michael Lorenzen had a little bit of that Matt Harrison mojo working for him in his debut for the Rangers this evening in Detroit as he erased the dangers that arose from allowing three hits and walking five Tigers by inducing three double plays in consecutive innings (bottom of the third, fourth, and fifth) to wiggle out of trouble. The trouble wiggling was needed as Lorenzen was not backed by much from the Texas bats, though they did o ..read more

The Rangers play game one of a four game series today in Detroit, and it is the only evening game of the four, weirdly enough. The lineup: Semien — 2B Jankowski — DH Carter — LF Garcia — RF Smith — SS Duran — 3B Heim — C Walsh — 1B Taveras — CF ..read more

Photo by Tim Warner/Getty Images The latest on the World Series champion Texas Rangers Good morning. Evan Grant writes that an already thin and increasingly thinning Texas Rangers pitching staff was looking threadbare over the weekend. Matt Fisher notes that Texas left Houston back at merely .500 for the first time since they were 4-4 last April. Kennedi Landry writes that with the April schedule doing them no favors, the Rangers will continue searching for pitching answers. Cole Winn wasn’t meant to be one of those answers, as he was expected to fill in for a day, but he pitched well in his M ..read more

Photo by Tim Warner/Getty Images Cole Winn debuts in a clunker The Texas Rangers scored five runs but the Houston Astros scored eight times. I (luckily as it turns out) was unable to view this game as Bally Sports decided to show the same programming that was not the baseball game on both Bally Sports Southwest and Bally Sports Southwest Extra where the game was supposed to be aired. You’d think that network was going bankrupt or something. Anyway, what I gather from Gameday glances is the Rangers were Altuve’d and basically played a similar contest to yesterday’s only with even less hope of v ..read more
