The Rangers have called up Owen White to get a fresh arm in the bullpen
The Texas Rangers have optioned Jack Leiter to AAA Round Rock. To take his place on the active roster, the Rangers have recalled pitcher Owen White from AAA Round Rock.
Leiter was called up just to make one spot start, and the expectation was that he would be sent back down after that start so the Rangers could add another arm to the bullpen mix. At this point, the only healthy pitchers on the forty man roster who could be added to take the place of a pitcher who was ..read more

Texas Rangers update for Friday, April 19.
Good morning, LSB.
The Rangers beat the Tigers yesterday and took three of four in Detroit.
All eyes were on Jack Leiter, who called his major league debut a “surreal” experience.
Shawn McFarland writes that all the highs and lows we've come to know from Leiter thus far in his pro career were on display in his first start.
McFarland also has other thoughts from the win including Leody Taveras’ juke move (not the one he performed in center field, where he juked everyone watching into thinking he would catch that fly ball ..read more

A real wacky one in the finale
The Texas Rangers scored nine runs while the Detroit Tigers scored seven runs.
Jack Leiter is officially a big leaguer and we got to see the full Jack Leiter experience today where you can easily see that he has the great stuff that made him No. 2 overall in the 2021 MLB draft, but also the command comes and goes and if big league hitters are sitting on a fastball, even one with elite markers, they will hit it hard somewhere eventually.
Overall, Leiter’s line (3 2⁄3 IP, 8 H, 7 ER, 3 BB, 3 K on 85 pitches) feels worse than he p ..read more

Morning, all!
Josh Smith has made the most of his opportunities since Josh Jung went on the IL, and came through with some late game heroics yesterday.
The DMN takes a look at the Rangers’ top prospects that are not already in Arlington.
Jack Leiter’s big league debut today is coming on the heels of two years of challenges, including three stints on the developmental list.
Kirby Yates has yet to give up a run in over 7 innings of work, and is bringing some much needed stability to late game, high leverage situations.
Dane Dunning wasn’t the sharpes ..read more

Jack Leiter makes his major league debut
Texas Rangers lineup for April 18, 2024 against the Detroit Tigers: starting pitchers are Jack Leiter for the Rangers and Kenta Maeda for the Tigers.
2021 #2 overall draft pick Jack Leiter makes his major league debut today, and if you’re going to pick a place for Jack Leiter to get his feet wet, it would be hard to pick a better one than Comerica Park. Leiter has tended to be homer prone throughout his career, including in his recent run of success since returning to action after spending six weeks on the ..read more

Rangers 5, Tigers 4
Rangers 5, Tigers 4
Huzzah for the Rangers’ inherent awesomeness in one run games!
I wish to praise Jacob Latz, who once again pitched well, and yet didn’t necessarily have it reflected in the box score. Latz gets dinged for allowing an inherited runner to score. That inherited runner led off the inning with a double off of Dane Dunning. Latz got a fly out and a strike out, then elicited a roller to shortstop that looked like it would end the inning. But Corey Seager made a poor throw for an E-6. And maybe we can lament the fact that E ..read more
