Texas takes on Toronto, in Toronto
Texas Rangers lineup for July 26, 2024 against the Toronto Blue Jays: starting pitchers are Andrew Heaney for the Rangers and Yusei Kikuchi for the Jays.
The Texas Rangers head north of the border to take on the Blue Jays of Toronto. The last time the Rangers had a series in Toronto, they entered the series three games back in the A.L. West and barely hanging on to a Wild Card spot. Texas responded by sweeping the four game set.
The lineup:
Semien — 2B
Seager — SS
Grossman — LF
Langford — CF
Garcia — RF
Lowe — 1B
Heim — C

The Rangers have a pair of players in the newly updated Fangraphs top 100 prospect list
Fangraphs has a post up discussing their updating their top 100 prospect list on The Board prior to Tuesday’s trade deadline. Generally speaking, at this point, my expectation with these lists is that Sebastian Walcott will be somewhere in the top 50, and otherwise, there will be no Texas Rangers on the list.
Walcott is, as expected, in the top 50 on this list — he checks in at #26, between Spencer Jones of the New York Yankees and Jacob Misiorowski of the Milwaukee Brewer ..read more

The Orioles and Phillies made an unusual trade today
We have a rather unusual deal today involving a pair of contenders, with the Baltimore Orioles sending outfielder Austin Hays to the Philadelphia Phillies for outfielder Cristian Pache and reliever Seranthony Dominguez.
Hays, who was a starter for the Orioles the previous three seasons, and who made the All Star team last year, has been largely relegated to the short side of a platoon role at this point with the emergence of Colton Cowser. Although he has struggled against righthanders, Hays is hitting .328/.394 ..read more

Texas Rangers update for Friday, July 26.
Good morning, LSB.
The Rangers finished off their 4-game sweep of the White Sox yesterday.
Max Scherzer made a little history as Texas slid their AL West deficit down to 2.5 games.
The Rangers’ improved play has kind of forced Chris Young’s hand in terms of buying/selling, Evan Grant writes.
Elsewhere, Kumar Rocker is set to take the mound for the RoughRiders tonight.
Tyler Mahle started there last night and was solid in another rehab appearance.
Robbie Grossman hit his 10 years of service time mark yesterday.

You’ve seen Herbie with a broom, but how about a mop
The Texas Rangers scored twice while the Chicago White Sox scored once.
The Rangers should be allowed to play the White Sox every day, in my opinion.
Even so, and despite winning each of these four games to tie their season-best five game winning streak, Texas didn’t exactly impose their will on Chicago during these four games, not counting yesterday’s blowout victory.
After a couple of low-scoring games to open this series, today’s game was more of that flavor with the Rangers only plating two runs, with none ..read more

Dane Dunning is back, and Josh Jung is right behind him
The Texas Rangers have activated pitcher Dane Dunning today, the team announced. To make room for him on the active roster, the team optioned pitcher Gerson Garabito to AAA Round Rock.
More significant, however, is the move that Bruce Bochy indicated is coming tomorrow. Bochy said prior to today’s game that infielder Josh Jung will be activated for Friday’s game in Toronto, and will be in the starting lineup.
This is a rather big surprise, as the team had indicated Jung would be starting a rehab assignm ..read more
