Hello Golfers! How do I know it has been a long season? One sure way to tell is by seeing that the last blog post was done in the middle of May! Despite the extra challenges put on the maintenance staff because of the Corona Virus, it has been a very succesful season. The Sea Course was opened the last week in March and closed for everyday play in late November, and the Stone Course is still open! We had a rather extensive winter preparation this autumn. We aerified greens several time between the beginning of August and the end of September. This is an important cultural practice that the gre ..read more

Drainage Projects
Estonian Golf & Country Club

Hello Golfers! It has been a busy spring for the greenkeepers.  We have been busy working on the greens, tees, fairways and approaches along with many other important tasks. One of the biggest projects we have been working on over the last two weeks is installing more drainage throughout the Sea Course.  Over the last couple seasons some drain lines have become clogged resutling in standing water at inconvenient places.  In some areas we were able to wash the drain lines clean which should help keep the water moving, but in some areas more drastic measures were required.  W ..read more

Hello Golfers! Welcome to the 2020 season!  It has been a very mild winter in Estonia so the Stone Course has remained open for the better part of the winter. We have been busy throughout the winter in the maintenance department mowing and rolling greens and changing holes on the Stone Course to keep the course nice and playable. Now that spring is just around the corner and the greens are becoming a little softer again we have to send out the annual reminder to repair your ball marks on the greens.  Today as we were rolling the greens in preparation for the weekend we noticed A LOT ..read more

Hello Golfers! It´s been over two months since our last post and for that we apologize.  The bad thing about not posting in such a long time is that we have been unable to keep you up to date with what work we have been doing, but the good thing is we have been too busy getting the course in shape to make a blog update. Since our last post we have been working very, very hard to get the course in good shape.  We have spent many late nights fertilizing fairways, aerifying greens, fertilizing greens along with many other important tasks.  All of these jobs have had the desired res ..read more

Hello Golfers! Since our last blog post Estonian Golf and Country Club has been up and running at full capacity for almost two weeks.  Both the Sea and Stone Courses are now open and seeing quite a bit of play, and our brand new restaurant, DaVinci golfirestoran opened as well.  It´s nice to see the golf courses and clubhouse full of life again! The greens have been fertilized several times with liquid fertilizers and we also go the first granular fertilizer application on the greens last week.  Unfortuantely the temperatures have dropped since fertilizing so we have not seen th ..read more

Eesti keeles vaadake alt poolt Hello Golfers! What a week it has been for the greenkeepers! Last week on a bright and sunny day was the day we had been looking forward to since last fall- delivery day for our two new Toro Greensmaster 3420 TriFlex Hybrid mowers!  These mowers were essential for us to be able to keep improving the quality of the golf course.  Our previous mowers were over ten years old, not cutting well and constantly breaking down.  These new mowers will give us the confidence to get the job done right, with better quality and much quicker than before.  In ..read more

Hello golfers! After a long snowy winter it is good to welcome you back to Estonian Golf and Country Club! The greenkeepers have been keeping very busy during the offseason keeping an eye on the greens, and the mechanic has been working away preparing our mowers for the upcoming season. Some of the team even came in during a warm spell in February to get as much snow off of the greens as possible before it froze again.  Unfortunately, we were not able to get all the snow off, but the first week of March we rented a plow to remove the snowcover. Renting this plow was of great assistance ..read more

Late Season Disease Pressure
Estonian Golf & Country Club

Hello Golfers! It has been quite a while since our last posting.  The weather has been favourable, the course has been in great shape, and we have been getting great reviews regarding the golf course. October and the first half of November have been unusually warm – to be more specific, the evenings have been unusually warm.  While these temperatures have allowed us to keep the Sea Course open a little longer than we usually have, the disease pressure at this time is extremely high.  Fusarium (the disease you are seeing on the greens) is a real concern when the turf is wet and t ..read more

Hello Golfers! The weather over the past couple weeks has been excellent for growing grass.  Day time highs have not been terribly hot, and the evenings cool off just enough to allow the grass to recover from the day´s stress.  On top of the excellent temperatures we have also been getting decent amounts of rain on a regular basis allowing us to give the irrigation system a much needed rest.  Add in the granular fertilizer that was applied to the greens a week and a half ago, the golf course is in excellent shape! Here are some pictures taken of the golf course over the last cou ..read more
