Tottenham Hotspur v Brentford: Bees Buzzing Around Wounded Spurs
The Lilywhites

It’s Tottenham’s last home game of the season, but there will be no parties at the new White Hart Lane this time around. It’s been a dismal campaign and few fans will be sorry to see the back of 2022/23. Technically, there is still something to aim for. Spurs are just about in the mix for the final Europa League place, while we’re holding off Aston Villa in the battle for seventh and the Europa Conference League. Anything would be a hollow victory for a club who fielded a weaker team in an FA Cup tie because it considers top four football as a priority. Anyway, next up are Brentford in Saturda ..read more

Aston Villa v Tottenham Hotspur: A Six Pointer in the Battle for Seventh Place

Having been targeting a Champions League place in the first half of this season, Saturday’s game at Aston Villa could determine a much lesser prize for this Spurs team. This 3pm kick off at Villa Park may well decide who occupies the Europa Conference League place and who has to settle for eighth position in the table. There’s still a very good chance that either club can finish above Brighton and make it to the Europa League, especially as the Seagulls slumped to a 1-5 defeat to relegation threatened Everton on Monday. The secondary European competitions represent a hollow victory, but what c ..read more

Tottenham Hotspur v Crystal Palace: Can Spurs Bring the Eagles back down to Earth?

The roller coaster ride that comes with supporting Spurs was summed up in 90 minutes at Anfield last Sunday. Another unacceptable defensive display early on was belatedly addressed, and it seemed as if the side had snatched a point in the dying moments. It’s the hope that kills you – so they say. At least there were some positives from that 4-3 loss, but Tottenham simply cannot allow teams to establish big leads so early on. Having faced three tough fixtures in just over a week, things begin to look easier on paper, but this is where the squad will be tested. Is there enough quality and belief ..read more

Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur: Looking for another Lift at Liverpool

This isn’t an ideal fixture when you’re on a bad run of form and Ryan Mason’s Spurs will face another stiff test when they travel to Anfield on Saturday. Liverpool have made a late recovery after a poor start to the season, and Wednesday’s win at West Ham saw them leapfrog Tottenham into sixth place. Spurs looked to respond on Thursday as they hosted Manchester United and a 2-2 draw reclaimed fifth spot as we edged above Aston Villa on goal difference. It was a welcome, battling point after last Sunday’s abject defeat to Newcastle, but can we keep things going on Sunday? Ryan Mason Team News ..read more

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United: Almost Lost for Words
The Lilywhites

It’s difficult to know where to start: In more than 50 years of watching Spurs, we can’t recall a worse performance than the one against Newcastle on Sunday. It’s a sorry state of affairs and a measure of how far the club has fallen over the last few seasons. If that 6-1 loss proved to be the catalyst for permanent change, it may be more bearable, but we’re not holding our collective breath. With fixtures coming up against Manchester United and Liverpool over the next few days, the worry is that there will be more of the same. The loss did lead to one predictable change among the coaching staf ..read more

Having blown it with a run of winnable games, Spurs now face a nightmare set of fixtures. First up is a trip to St James’s Park to take on Newcastle United this Sunday, before next week delivers matches against Manchester United and Liverpool. Based on our current form and the mess at the new White Hart Lane, we may well get nothing from these three games. We will try to keep this preview positive, but it’s pretty tough at the moment. Team News The usual suspects remain on the sidelines for this one. Rodrigo Bentancur was ruled out for the season some time ago and he will continue to be accomp ..read more

Tottenham Hotspur v Bournemouth: Time to Pick Off the Cherries

Spurs will be looking for back to back wins against South Coast visitors when they welcome Bournemouth to the new White Hart Lane on Saturday. Last week’s victory over Brighton was an eventful one but, for once, we had any luck that was going on the day. We shouldn’t forget that two classy goals helped to seal that win as the club clings on to hopes of finishing inside the top four. On paper, this should be a comfortable afternoon, but Bournemouth have shown some good form as they look to pull away from the drop zone. It’s another 3pm kick off, but what can we expect? Tottenham Hotspur v Brighton and Hove Albion: Seagulls Swoop In

It’s been another frustrating week at the new White Hart Lane. Following a strange display at Goodison on Monday night, hopes of a top four finish are fading rapidly and Spurs are now having to rely on poor results from our main rivals for the Champions League places. The club has a chance to respond to that 1-1 draw with a home fixture against Brighton this Saturday. The Seagulls are also challenging for the European slots and they come into this match on the back of a 2-0 win at Bournemouth on Tuesday night. They have proved to be tough opponents since joining the Premier League, but can we ..read more

The least surprising piece of football news was confirmed earlier this week. After 16 months in charge of Tottenham Hotspur, Antonio Conte has gone, leaving the club to search for yet another permanent manager. Conte’s fate was effectively sealed following his comments after the Southampton game. In fact, many were surprised that he didn’t go sooner. We tend to subscribe to the conspiracy theory claiming that the announcement was delayed so as not to take the focus off Harry Kane as he broke the national scoring record. Anyway, here we are again. The caretaker manager is no stranger to Tottenh ..read more

Southampton v Tottenham Hotspur: Time to Sink the Saints

After a difficult two weeks, Spurs secured a welcome win with a 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest last weekend. A more attacking approach saw the team start with Harry Kane, Richarlison and Son Heung-Min up front and it paid dividends with all three technically hitting the target. While there was a controversial VAR in place to chalk one of those goals off, surely this will be the way to go again this weekend. Like Forest, Southampton are also struggling at the wrong end of the table and, while we are away from home, another attack-minded display has to be best. This is another Saturday 3pm k ..read more
