Game Hype

The Legacy lives on Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is cited as a spiritual successor to the Suikoden series and perfectly so. Yoshitaka Murayama who previously worked on Suikoden returned to lead the Eiyudon Chronicle: Hundred Heroes project before his unfortunate passing earlier this year, his legacy lives on forever though as Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is a brilliant piece of art and a longing which many JRPG players have felt for a very long time. It isn’t long before the game provides clear cut Suikoden like nods through it’s narrative and gameplay elements. While the story begin ..read more

The Grandmaster Of Centre Court Returns! Published by 2K and developed by Hangar 13 (Mafia III/Mafia definitive edition), TopSpin 2K25 is certainly a different game style than previous projects, but have they served up a triumphant return for the TopSpin brand? Or does it fall foul of prior standards set by the earlier entries in the franchise’s rich history? In short, yes, the game provides an authentic, highly charged experience where reaction times and technique matter but it’s got some minor niggling issues. (Plagued by cosmetic microtransactions and some smaller issues) It lacks the all-s ..read more

Review – Stellar Blade (PlayStation 5)
Game Hype

A few years ago a small team released a trailer for a game simple known “Project Eve”. What we saw was big demon like beasts, a destroyed earth, and some sci-fi like heroine using a fancy sword with a super long ponytail, and the ponytail is what I remembered. I remembered commenting to a friend that the physics of it were so precise and they’ve gone to a lot of effort to make that ponytail work, and from there my interest in these game started. Project Eve would eventually become Stellar Blade, another PS5 exclusive that would start to receive a lot of attention, for various reasons (more on ..read more

More like Icarumba than Cowabunga… Email: John.Betts@Gamehype.co.uk The iconic Turtle quartet returns for more side-scrolling madness, as the cast of 2012-2017 get some love. With an RRP of £24.99 and a completion time of around 1 hour 30 minutes is this ported 2017 re-release from Raw Thrills and GameMill Entertainment a worthy purchase? Hot off the heels of Shredders Revenge and the Cowabunga Collection, my expectations were pretty high coming into this. And it’s here where I personally struggled to enjoy this release, as I was constantly comparing it to those previous titles that have been ..read more

Questin’ like it’s 2012… After brewing for nearly twelve years in Capcom’s cauldron; Dragon’s Dogma 2 is finally here, and with it, a sequel that stays surprisingly faithful to the original game. Despite some initial controversy with microtransactions following launch, the game builds upon the foundations of the first game all the while maintaining the signature gameplay style and world building that Dark Arisen is known for, opting for a strong influence on exploration this around with a world that is 4 times the size of the original; just choosing a direction to head off and explore is by f ..read more

Is life better away from Earth? This suggests not Ever fancied a walking-like adventure in an aquarium set somewhere far away from earth where a newly created project was formed? Harold Halibut is the one for you. It’s been in development for a while but Slow Bros have finally given Harold Halibut the lease of life on consoles. It’s a little over 10 hours long to complete, but it feels like a real slog in order to get through. Whilst there are some nice quirks about the game, Harold Halibut isn’t a game I’d happily recommend to enjoy over a weekend. Much like the game suggests, you play the ro ..read more
