As 2022 comes to a close and 2023 is here, I thought it’d be good to pen down my reflection for the year. 2022 started with a bang and amidst a flurry of activities both on the personal and career front, it has proven to be a good year. My partner was asking how I’d rate 2022 as a year in general and I shared that it is probably a 8 for me. How about your readers? I will categorise it into 2 main buckets – Career & Personal. On the career front, it has gone swimmingly well this year. If we are viewing achievements as a form of earned income, then this is the best year yet thus far. In fact ..read more

Hello Q4 – closing out the year well!

In a blink of an eye, we are done with Q3 and embarking on the final quarter of 2022. This year has been a rather topsy turvy year where the market is concerned. The bearish landscape and the threat of looming recession has been playing on many of our minds. It will be exciting to see what 2023 brings – but first, let’s close out 2022 well. I have been feeling like a cog in the machine at work and my recent conversations with others has led me to believe that the quickest way to financial freedom (or ruin) will be entrepreneurship. That is something that has always interest me and I do believe ..read more

It’s been a while since I have been active on the blog. I have been busy at work and finally have some downtime to pen my thoughts. The past months flew by and we have seen the decline of the markets, the LUNA crash and the gradual reopening of Singapore. Like many other Singaporeans, I recently took advantage of the reopening and went on a trip. The trip opened my eyes to how other parts of the world have moved past the Covid pandemic, learning to live with the virus or perhaps not even bothering about it. I guess it is good news that we have opened up? I mean, take a look at China, the lockd ..read more

NASDAQ in Correction Territory

What start to 2022 it has been for growth stocks and the Nasdaq, we have investors taking a massive hit on their portfolio. The NASDAQ is officially in correction territory, down 10.7% from the previous record high in Nov 19. To be honest, it’s not only the technology sector getting routed this year. The S&P 500 has also declined about 5% thus far in 2022. Talks of the rising interest rates has affected the market sentiment. Among them is Cathie Wood who is under duress from her shareholders after seeing a massive sell off in ARKK (one of her numerous growth funds). Poor her. When her fund ..read more

It is the start of a new year and this year I have resolved to taking a more hands free approach with my finances – preferring to spend my time on income generating activity like my career or my side hustle and leaving my investments to run by itself. In recent months, I have had conversations with my peers on the best way to work our savings or generate better interest rate in light of the dismal rate we are currently getting from the banks… Not to mention the numerous hoops one have to attain to get the max interest rate. While saving up for big ticket items as we are journeying through life ..read more

And just like that, we are done with 2021 and ready to welcome 2022. Thought it’d be good to pen my thoughts down and reflect on the year that has been. It has been a year filled with hope, happiness and plenty of promises. We started the year filled with the promise that this may be the year we rid the world of the Covid Pandemic, alas, we are seeing Omicron striking fear into many countries and restricting travel once again. Hopefully the reports that it is milder than Delta is true and we can look forward it it as another step towards the end of the Pandemic. Inflation has also hit us badly ..read more

Following on my previous article on how moomoo trading app can improve your investing experience, I will be touching on the added benefits of the moomoo app powered by FUTU for those who prefer to trade and look at short term opportunities. The great thing about the app is that it is easy to get into and intuitive to use. If you are a user of IBKR, you will find the moomoo app refreshing and a joy to navigate. Don’t get me wrong, IBKR is a fantastic brokerage and I love it but when it comes to UI and UX, moomoo triumphs over here. For traders, moomoo trading app by FUTU offers the following fe ..read more

After 2 years without a proper vacation and no use of the most powerful passport in the world, I am excited to share that I went on numerous cruise trips in the past months with my family and friends. It was a great trip away from the hustle and bustle. Also a great experience as I have not been on a cruise in ages! I will be sharing on cruising during the heightened restrictions where dining in is not allowed and cruising when dining in is allowed. If you are worried about the Covid risk, do note that at the time of my trips, all cruise goers had to get a PCR test done 1-3 days before boardi ..read more

By now, you would know that I am an avid user of moomoo trading app as my alternative broker of choice after my primary. Today, I would like to touch on how moomoo app can actually help its user analyse and make stock purchases decisions. A common theme among those new to investing is that most of them typically feel lost and are unable to process the huge influx of information available to them. This typically leave us overwhelmed and unsure what information are best served to make our investing decision better. Thankfully, the developers behind the moomoo app are acutely aware of issues fazi ..read more

1 Year On – My Thoughts on Financial Blogging

I meant to pen this article way back in August 2021 as it will mark my 1 year anniversary of blogging and would be a good milestone to look back on. Alas, work matters got in the way and I put it off till now. The idea was first conceived back in 2018 when I found myself enjoying the content of local financial/lifestyle bloggers in this space. Some of them are still blogging till date (TurtleInvestor, 15HWW, HeartlandBoy, SGYoungInvestment, 3Fs etc), some have taken an indefinite hiatus (CheerfulEgg) and some have gone onto a total different path from when I started following them (GMGH). Lik ..read more
