LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — Authorities are bracing for possible mudflows in areas were recently scorched by wildfire, including the Bobcat Fire, the Ranch Fire, and the Lake Fire. CASTAIC (CBSLA) – Hundreds of firefighters continue to battle the Route Fire burning along the 5 Freeway in Castaic Monday. The Route Fire has scorched 462 acres and was 63% contained as of Sunday night. Sept. 12, 2021. NEAR CASTAIC (CBSLA) — A search was underway in Pyramid Lake where a person reportedly went overboard from a vessel late Monday morning. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department divers were searching the water for a woman said to be in her 20s near the 43100 block of North Pyramid Lake Road north of Castaic. CASTAIC (CBSLA) — A big rig crashed off the side of the northbound 5 Freeway in the Castaic area Monday, leaving one person dead and a California Highway Patrol officer injured. The crash was reported around 12:40 p.m. north of Templin Highway, according to the California Highway Patrol and the county fire department. The big rig eventually stopped approximately 50 feet down from the freeway in an embankment.
