So a few friends and I are thinking about taking our families to Japan for a ski trip in Jan/Feb next year. Possibly 3-5 families each with 2-3 kids (8-16yo) so up to about 20 people
The main thing Im interested in understanding is accommodation options. Ideally we'd all stay in the one lodge style accom. Appreciate options depend on budget but for the moment, think not the cheapest hostel price and not the luxury Waldorf price.
Really just looking for ideas at this stage and would...

Op-Shop find and too small for me at a size 8. But they were only $4-
Smell fresh and clean and a bit like laundry soap, could do with a spray of DWR probably
Does anybody want them at my cost plus postage and a dollar finders fee?
Yellow synthetic shell; Kevlar reinforcing and a light fleece liner sewn in.
If these were a size 10 I'd keep them
Pix later when I unpack the car and find the camera ..read more

As I am not headed to Alaska I am not going to need all the extreme cold weather gear I have accumulated. So help me destash by purchasing this bit of surplus gear.
The Latitude are a good compromise shell for Australian snow conditions. waterproof and reasonably breathable
I have had these for a while but they haven't been used in a few years. labled as an XL but on the smaller side, just enough room inside for a pair of reasonable soft-shell gloves or thicker Windstopper gloves.
The...

I’m arranging to travel to New Zealand for a week basically for skiing late August this year. I used to ski as an intermediate many years ago but I think I might have lost all my skills. I would like to purchase a good learner (ski lesson) package preferably including accommodation. I would appreciate some advice for good websites links. I would also like to know if it’s more enjoyable to hire a car rather than using bus transport. If I get a hire car, do I need to put tyre chains on while...

Does anyone know when is the last day in April that Breck offers group lessons for children and adults? Tried google but could not find any information on it. Sent them an email as well but no response so far. I know this year that by April 22 the ski school was closed for the season ..read more

To add to the major disappointment from the Courchevel trip, I got 2 speeding fines while driving back to Italy.
Anyone has any experience with french authorities? They obviously got my address from the rental place, but they also obviously could not charge them, which would make them, in turn, charge my credit card, which they so far have not. I rented in Italy.
My car was also scratched in the Courchevel secure paid car park, for which rental joint charged me 1000 euros. I tell you, I...

Your correspondent in the field set off before dawn to scout out on foot a different route to access LM , possibly in winter,
sans exhorbitant car entry
gate fee.
It was a sunny and mild autumn day . I arrived at Cambarville Picnic area. The road past the LM turnoff is cactus with more holes in it than The Lib Labs' policies on going green and saving the planet.
The toilets there were shut. Parks Victoria have money to keep such...

The binding on my skis is too old to be indemnified by a technician working in a shop; so I guess I'll need to do my own.
The new rockhoppers have a similar Atomic binding to my old ones. I'll clean out all the old gunk but I wonder if I can use olive oil grease that's plastic and rubber compatible or do I need to buy some silicone based grease and if so is it available here in Oz or do I have to pay exorbitant postage for America or the EU?
Old binding Atomic CR-310 new binding CR-412
