TALLMADGE, Ohio (WJW) - A late-night crash involving a semi-truck on I-76 temporarily closed the westbound lanes of the interstate near Southeast Avenue in Tallmadge. LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) – A man was taken to the hospital and arrested after a standoff with police and a Tallmadge officer-involved shooting in Lawrence Township late Thursday night. Fire crews say a flatbed truck was carrying a large load of hay along E. Howe Road, near North Avenue, when cars passing by alerted him the bales were on fire. TALLMADGE, Ohio (WJW) – About 50 years after the crimes were committed, a 78-year-old man will be sentenced on Tuesday in two cold case murders that took place in Tallmadge in the 1970s. Just last month, Gustave “Gus” Sapharas, 78, was found guilty of the two brutal murders.
