Is my Pomeranian puppy okay ? My first pet

When I turned around my 3month old Pomeranian puppy had produced this . I wasn’t sure at first if it was a stool or if it came from his mouth . I just looks very strange and is concerning me. It also doesn't smell at all which is unusual because it does normally smell when he goes to the toilet. I took him to the vet a few days ago because I was cornered about his breathing . They gave me some drops for his breathing as dewormer to give him for 3 days . I must say I’m not sure he is fully... Is my Pomeranian puppy okay ? My first pet ..read more

Should I rehome? Really struggling.

A month ago my DH and I went to a rescue's puppy event after thinking about adding a dog into our family for many months. We weren't certain that this was the best time but the rescue lady encouraged us to just come down and see the puppies (first mistake). When we got there she had a couple of typical rescue dogs (older pitties etc) and then suddenly a number of adorable puppies of various breeds (including desirable ones like Shih Tzus and Dachshunds!) My instincts were SCREAMING at me to... Should I rehome? Really struggling ..read more

Cairn - hard time releasing pee, unknown diagnosis

My male Cairn Terrier is 10 years old and have had difficulties to be able to pee properly for the last 1 and 1/2 year, and it has become more problematic later. He can try to pee for a minute or two without nothing or just a few droppes coming out when he is out walking, eventually after a good while he can pee some. He can sometimes pee huge amount indoors out of the blue like over 1/6 of a gallon. He has been to ultrasonic imaging and x-ray, and the vet could not find anything wrong... Puppy having tummy trouble?

My 5 month old Aussie/Border collie was eating Kirkland chicken and pea puppy food when we got him so we kept him on that until a few weeks ago, but took him off of it since it’s grain free which I avoid. We gradually switched him to Purina Pro plan puppy sensitive skin and stomach (salmon and rice) since I found it had the best ingredients compared to the other Pro Plan puppy foods. He didn’t have any tummy upset during the food change, which we did gradually over 10 days. On his old food... Puppy having tummy trouble ..read more

How do you know when it's time for an elderly dog?

Hello, I'm new to the forum. Just came on here for help with deciding what to do with my elderly dog, 14 years old. He's starting to show signs of possibly being uncomfortable and in pain. I am wondering about his quality of life and whether it's time to make the dreaded appointment with the vet but I want to make sure before I do that. He is worst in the evenings, he will follow me around panting and whining. He takes a while to settle down. He is on both carprofen and gabapentin and... Hey everyone! I am a struggling houla dad. We’ve had our rescue Quinn for four years. She came to us at approximately 2 years old, and she’s a mostly houla part lab mix. When we first got her, we knew we had our hands full. She came to us with a hearing and vision issue. She also came to us after an abusive situation. I’ve gotten a couple of nips in earning her trust but it’s been worth it. She’s great with everyone, and is usually the most loving dog on the planet. Doesn’t randomly go... Urgent, tick on my dog!

Went for a walk on a trail (York Regional forest, Ontario, Canada) but stayed out of any tall grass or bushes, an hour after getting home I saw a very small tick crawling on the surface of my 5 month old puppy’s fur. I don’t think it latched anywhere since it was crawling on top of the fur, I thoroughly checked him all over and found a flea as well. He is on Simparica flea and tick prevention (takes a pill once a month), and I called the vet go make sure his last pill is still effective... Urgent, tick on my dog ..read more

Heartworm Positive - Lifestyle changes.

Hello folks. Friday afternoon, I took Maria in for an annual and to get her vaccines updated. They complimented how good she looked and her heart sounded healthy despite her anxiety. Unfortunately, she also came out positive for heartworms. We have opted into getting her treatment, which is expensive but worth it. The hard part is that she's an otherwise healthy, very active dog that gets bored so easily. I do not have the toys yet to make up for less outdoor time. Reading up what I can...
