DIXON – Two Solano County sheriff’s deputies are being credited with protecting a home from a grass fire.
On Sunday, Solano County Sheriff’s Office Deputies Schilling and Lopez were in the area of Hawkins and Pitt School roads in Dixon when they noticed that a roadside fire was getting close to a house, according to a sheriff’s department statement.
They stopped and tried to contact the homeowners, but got no answer. The deputies then used a water hose outside the home to hold the fire back from the home.

YOLO COUNTY (CBS13) — The person found dead inside a Yolo County garbage truck on Tuesday was identified as a Dixon resident.
The Dixon Police Department said a coroner identified the body as Miguel Peñuelas.
Dixon police said that they were contacted by Davis police who said that a waste disposal service found the body while dropping off trash collected from the city of Dixon.
Investigators said it appears Peñuelas climbed into a dumpster about an hour before a truck came to pick it up and covered himself with cardboard.

DIXON (CBS13) — Detectives are investigating how a body ended up inside of garbage truck in Yolo County.
The Dixon Police Department said Tuesday that they were contacted by Davis police who said that a waste disposal service found the body while dropping off trash collected from the city of Dixon.
Dixon police believe the death was accidental, and that the person had climbed inside the dumpster, and was still there when the dumpster was emptied into the truck.

DIXON (CBS13) — One person was found dead in an RV fire near Dixon, officials said Wednesday evening.
The fire happened during the afternoon hours along Thissell Road near Schroeder Road just outside of the Dixon city limits on the west side of Interstate 80.
The trailer was completely destroyed in the fire. A pickup truck at the scene was also damaged.
The Dixon Fire Department said crews from the UC Davis, Vacaville and Winters fire departments responded to assist.

DIXON (CBS13) – A vegetation fire burning in the Dixon area is being driven by winds.
The four-alarm fire started around midday in the area of Hay Road and State Road 113 in Dixon. A large plume of white smoke could be seen coming from the fire.
A Solano County Sheriff’s Office public information officer says the wind-driven fire is moving towards State Road 113. There’s no word yet on the cause of the fire.
No structures are being threatened and people are being urged to avoid the area, the Solano County Office of Emergency Services says.

DIXON (CBS13) – A deadly crash has all lanes of westbound Interstate 80 near Dixon blocked on Tuesday morning.
The crash happened just before 7 a.m. near Pedrick Road.

DIXON (CBS13) — The Dixon May Fair will kick-off for the first time in two years on Thursday.
This year’s event will include carnival rides, farm animals, and plenty of fried food. Music acts will also be featured every day of the fair.
Friday’s bull riding and Sunday’s demolition derby are already sold out, but Saturday’s tractor pull competition still has tickets available.

DIXON (CBS13) — A search is on for the suspect after a 7-Eleven clerk was shot in Dixon late Tuesday night.
Dixon police say, a little before 10:30 p.m., they got a call from a clerk at the store along North 1st Street reporting that he had just been shot. Officers responded to the store and found that the clerk had suffered a gunshot wound.
The clerk was rushed to a local hospital. Police say he was in critical condition.
Few details about the suspect wanted for the shooting are available, but they were last seen leaving in a dark-colored sedan.

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Approximately 900 gallons of fuel leaked from a train between Sacramento and Dixon, Union Pacific said Wednesday.
The spill happened along a 37-mile stretch before it was discovered.
Union Pacific said there were no reported exposures or injuries in the incident.

VACAVILLE (CBS13) — A Dixon man was arrested after leading authorities on an hour-long chase through four counties early Monday, the Solano County Sheriff’s Office announced.
Matthew Ramos, 53, was booked into jail where he faces charges of evading and reckless driving.
According to the sheriff’s office, Ramos failed to pull over when deputies attempted a traffic stop for a mechanical violation, erratic driving and a high rate of speed in Vacaville.
