Manifest Love? Hoax or Truth Bomb
Sickly Confidential

It arrived in the mail in the middle of the week. The package was pink, the lettering gold. Let’s pause… If I could be a native New Yorker, I would be. I’m cynical AF and if my personality wasn’t harsh enough at times, my unapologetic attitude is. So when I heard about the Beauty Everywhere Manifestation Kit, part of me wanted to roll my eyes. Part of me was also curious. Setting my cynicism aside, I realized my personality is cool and all, but it doesn’t quite always get me the love vibes I’m craving. You all know I’m engaged by now and if dating wasn’t hard enough, engaged is even harder. It ..read more

The Doctor
Sickly Confidential

It happened. I was in deep lust with a man who owned a Sports Chiropractic Clinic.  Not only did Dr. D have one of the most successful practices in my thriving metropolis, he was also a published author.  His practice had one other chiropractor, a front desk associate, a massage therapist, and 2 Naturopathic doctors.  All in all, before 40 he was a huge success and although I am sure financially very well off- it was his essence I felt myself falling for. Not only was he attractive, but he his entrepreneurial spirit had me hooked.  Happy-go-lucky with a driven attitude, I ..read more

“Sh*t, d*mn, uggggh where are my effing keys?!”  I screamed aloud while fumbling in my purse and grabbing a black blazer from my bedroom closet.  I had to meet my coworkers downtown at a very luxe sushi restaurant in half hour.  Except, with traffic, it would take me at least an hour. A word to those wondering, when I dress up and go downtown- it is not like I am showing off my assets.  I wear ballet flats and on especially daring occasions- I’ve been known to rock a 1 inch heel.  I can be easily spotted in a crowd of 20-something “eager to show off women” by wearing m ..read more

What To Do When You Are Ghosted
Sickly Confidential

Ghosting, according to the Urban dictionary, for those of you who haven’t been through it is when someone you believe likes you or cares about you, stops all contact without any warning or explanation. They just disappear. When it happens, it can cause intense feelings of missing them, loneliness, confusion, and angst wondering where we went wrong. Far too many times after being ghosted we go through our mental rabbit hole and attempt to replay the events leading up to the disappearance to analyze what we could have done better. Make sure it was not something you said or did. Don’t overanalyz ..read more

It arrived in the mail in the middle of the week. The package was pink, the lettering gold. Let’s pause… Do we really believe a box that comes in the mail can help us manifest love in our lives? If I could be a native New Yorker, I would be. I’m cynical AF and if my personality wasn’t harsh enough at times, my unapologetic attitude is. So when I heard about the Beauty Everywhere Manifestation Kit, part of me wanted to roll my eyes. Part of me was also curious. sis, you don’t owe anyone anything. except your mom. call her. I get it, chances are as you’re reading this you are slightly tired and slightly symptomatic, preoccupied with coordinating between clinic and the pharmacy, managing anxiety during covid, and trying to balance it all. And then, right when you get into a steady swing of things, you get his text message request. And you have no idea how to tell him: “NO I don’t want to grab dinner.” “NO I’m not comfortable going to a party with a group of people during quarantine.” “NO I don’t to hear about your friend’s friend who has my condition ..read more

Dating A Doctor
Sickly Confidential

As a teenager, I fantasized about dating a doctor. We’d go to swanky restaurants, laugh, and talk about the strength of the human body. In my mid twenties, I was finally getting to experience that fantasy in real-life. When I swiped right on a man who was a chiropractor and owned a sports chiropractic clinic, I figured it was close enough to the doctor title to at least give it a try. He also was a published author, won multiple awards in his field, and regularly worked with the affluent community in our metropolis. The date with the doctor however, was everything but the fantasy I imagined ..read more

Sickly Confidential

First of all, why’d I even buy a planner? So many lessons learned during quarantine. Everything is chaotic and we’re all searching for a little bit of balance. Here’s the irony, I never expected COVID or the quarantine to teach me anything about life. Especially about finding balance. And yet, once again, I was wrong. There’s always a higher purpose to pain. There’s always a bright sunrise after the darkest of nights. This year has been one of the most thought provoking and pivotal in my life. I got on a medication that miraculously halted the progression of my disease, cystic fibrosis. I star ..read more

Sickly Confidential

Hey sis, I know how hard it is. You put yourself out there, gave a piece of your heart to a stranger that became a lover, fantasized about happily ever after, and then found out that he wasn’t quite what you expected. Maybe he ghosted you when he discovered your purse full of meds, or he didn’t understand why you are fatigued three days in a row, or my personal favorite excuse, wants you to find the person you’re meant to be with because he just isn’t strong enough for you. To which I say, tomato/to-mah-to, potato/vodka. So here’s what you do next… 1. Begin with Forgiveness In times of crisis ..read more

A Journey of Self Discovery w Mr. Computer Programmer If you’ve been following this blog, you know we share openly our own self discovery journey. This is no exception. In the following story, I pull from my early twenties memory banks about a one night stand that I was certain would lead me into a free fall about my own sense of worth and feelings of desperation. My goal has always been to fall in love. What I didn’t realize, was falling in love requires you to love yourself first. “Sh*t, d*mn, uggggh where are my effing keys?!”  I screamed aloud while fumbling in my purse and grabbing a ..read more
