Government really does get worse, it actually has to be guarded from that, or to say it another way, with having government the government is what has to be governed. Statistics: Posted by FredVegrox — Thu May 16, 2024 12:26 pm ..read more

There were problems rather than really significant benefits to wearing the masks for COViD. And the shots for COVID created problems, and in some cases death, while information on COVID deaths were with exaggerated numbers. Yet people generally are not willing to admit even to themselves that they have been had. There is less freedom for us and government is telling us more of what to do. I'm not talking about certainty; disproving solipsism is impossible, after all. I'm talking about likelihood. An unknowable probability should not be treated as 50/50 simply because you have only imagined two scenarios. This is the same issue Pascal's wager has. States do not equal to probability, and when you assert there are only two model-able states, you are inevitably wrong. For instance, the third state of the devil running the show in Pasal's wager itself. It is a way to model decisions and their consequences when you have to in approach to a particular state challenge, but that does ..read more

Well, how can I know if you're sentient? Would you appreciate it if I treated things as if you weren't? Statistics: Posted by Red — Thu May 02, 2024 2:00 pm ..read more

So @brimstoneSalad what would you say the best course of action is? As fond as I am of cocoa, I'm willing to give it up if it's a serious ethical concern. I usually never do, but maybe fair trade would be a better idea here? Or would that be worse in some way? Fair trade might be better. It would possibly be something good to look into for an article. I've heard more criticism of cocoa and coffee lately. Statistics: Posted by brimstoneSalad — Sun Apr 07, 2024 8:06 pm ..read more

Slavery still continues. We can choose to be informed to not contribute to harsh experience of those working as slaves, with our choices, this would be more ethical. Statistics: Posted by FredVegrox — Thu Apr 04, 2024 1:19 pm ..read more

It is better to act on the apparent sentience, instead of assuming the evidence of it is deceptive. Statistics: Posted by FredVegrox — Thu Mar 28, 2024 1:29 pm ..read more

I'm not talking about certainty; disproving solipsism is impossible, after all. I'm talking about likelihood. Any given organism is either sentient or not. Why should I have any inclination to believe strongly one way or the other as to whether a given organism is sentient? Why shouldn't I just remain entirely agnostic as to whether anyone is sentient or not? If I'm 50/50 on whether or not others are sentient, then I will still treat others with kindness as though they are sentient, because there is a chance that they might in fact be sentient. So it's not like being 50/50 on the matter wo ..read more

Yet, thermodynamics have such things that run perpetual motion. All atoms are that way. But to get useful energy from them you need a huge amount of atoms with much further complexity, and the possibility of perpetual motion is lost with such greater complexity Atoms aren't in perpetual motion. https://www.physicsforums.com/threads/a ... es.243906/ They bounce around off each other and lose thermal energy to the surroundings. A perfect insulator to contain that energy indefinitely is thermodynamically impossible. The only reason they continue to move and don't reach absolute zero is because ..read more

Bombs do not really release all internal energy, but a significant portion of it, especially if they produce a nuclear explosion. That still is not all of the internal energy. The problem with my argument is that the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics actually says no such thing. Here is @brimstoneSalad explaining what the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics actually says: viewtopic.php?p=47111#p47111 Statistics: Posted by teo123 — Tue Feb 20, 2024 6:59 pm ..read more
