On Saturday, January 21, 2023, choristers united for their annual winter retreat. MCC singers participate in 2 retreats per season – 1 in the fall and 1 in the winter. This 1-day activity is an extended rehearsal time that MCC singers greatly benefit from. The choirs come together, learn new music, and connect with one another. Choral retreats combine many educational elements which boost choristers’ ability to learn. It is amazing how much the choirs absorb. Retreats continue to be educational and inspirational with benefits that last throughout the season. More specifically, Lyric Chorale ..read more

This past holiday season was a busy one for many of our singers. We are so thrilled to see them use their voices outside the Choir, we just had to share. Preparatory Choir members Will, Annalise, Jace, and Lainey, along with Lyric Chorale chorister Robin, performed in The Rep’s annual A Christmas Carol. A Christmas Carol is one of the best-known and loved stories in the English language. During the course of one memorable Christmas Eve, the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future help Scrooge discover that it is never too late to change his miserly ways. Hear more from MCC singer Lainey ..read more

Tuesday, January 3, 2023 was a day of history as Governor Tony Evers and Lieutenant Governor-Elect Sara Rodriguez were sworn into office. Assembly Speaker Robin Vos delivered opening messages that celebrates the start of what would lead to the new session. However, what was particularly exciting about this event was the performance by MCC singers! Choristers sang a total of 4 songs – “We Will” by Jim Papoulis, “Put a Little Love in your Heart” arranged by Cristi Cary Miller, “Kuwa Furaha” by Jim Papoulis, and “Amazing Grace” arranged by Rollo Dilworth. “The day will be memorable for our sing ..read more

I MCC Fundraiser was a beautiful night honoring our choristers’ spirit and passion for singing and the performing arts. Together, we raised nearly $6,000 for scholarships, guest artist clinics, learning materials and so much more. Thank you for helping our youth find their voice and flourish as artists, students, and individuals at the MCC.    *Photography courtesy of Kamilla Kasymova.  DSC_5942 DSC_9544 DSC_5951 DSC_5960 DSC_5964 DSC_9508 DSC_9474 DSC_5965 DSC_9545 DSC_5967 DSC_9477 DSC_9498 DSC_5969 DSC_5957 DSC_5975 DSC_9453 DSC_9456 D ..read more

The MCC continues to build program opportunities beyond our September-May evening choral engagement. Throughout June and July, we offered multiple programs for youth.   It all kicked off in June for our two, free, 1-day summer camps. Ranging from 7-12 years old, 44 youth learned about rhythm through rhymes, games, and engaging activities. The goal was to develop attendees’ interest and enjoyment for singing and the performing arts. Before the day ended, participants performed what they learned for parents. Beginning in late June, our next summer camp Music Unites ran over three ..read more

On May 14, 2022, we ended our 28th season with the dramatic concert Force for Good. MCC choristers sang inspiring songs that encouraged community well-being and respect. Music selections ranged from spirituals, pop and Disney tunes, along with songs in Hebrew and Latin. The selection was focused on music that brought us together, helped us grow, and inspired us to make a difference. The highlight of the performance was giving our youth a new voice through visual art. In preparation for the performance, singers got creative with partner Walker’s Points Center for the Arts and created com ..read more

On Saturday, May 22, MCC singers took Madison by storm. During this exciting day trip, choristers participated in a workshop with Madison Youth Chorale Artistic Director Michael Ross (MYC), along with his MYC singers. Mr. Ross led the two choirs in fun activities centered around music theory. Additionally, singers from both organizations came together and learned new songs.  It is opportunities like these that enhance our singers’ personal development, provide them the experience of working with different conductors, and build ensemble unity and trust. It is our goal that, throughout the ..read more

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am thrilled to vocalize our pleasure with the positive progress the MCC made during the 2021-2022 season.  While we continue to manage the risks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, we have successfully kept our choristers, families, and staff safe through appropriate distancing and diligent mask usage in rehearsals and performances. Managing the ongoing risks from COVID has been an ongoing challenge over the past two years, and with the continued efforts of staff, these precautions have been maintained. As we’ve said before, our #1 prio ..read more
