I bought Noble House on DVD in the USA. It's playing in 1.66:1 I think, which is slightly cropped from the original (1.78:1 I think?), but the motion is funky, sort of soap opera and jittery (may just be my old computer DVD player though). But it's more likely it was filmed in 50fps in the UK but DVD is 30fps, or something along those lines. Not sure. My question is, where can I watch this either the frame rate it was filmed, or in some other at least smooth framerate? (meaning even cadence). Grasshopper Film will be releasing two classic French films from director Jean Grémillon. The first is Lady Killer (Gueule d’Amour) (1937), which stars Jean Gabin, and the second is The Strange Mister Victor (L'Étrange Monsieur Victor) (1938). Both are sourced from 4K restorations.
