Ireland confirm postponement of men's bilateral series vs Australia "Because we have so few pitches here in Ireland that can host international cricket, we had to make a fairly difficult decision," Warren Deutrom, Cricket Ireland CEO, said www.espncricinfo.com Did Australia lift a finger to help Ireland? The other touring teams Ireland are hosting are making concessions, but it seems Australia does everything they can to avoid the minnows ..read more

The odds suggest Starc & Hazlewood (Boland, Neser) have one more home summer (india) , a sri lanka tour, a possible WTC final , a west indies tour and maybe, just maybe another home summer (ashes) before calling it a day in the test arena (that's 15 tests). smith and khawaja may well have the same ambitions. lyon - well he could go on forever. quicks in the last 45 years and their age as of their last test. only mcgrath has still been playing at the age of 35+. the current guys i... The irrational value of a century

I should preface this by saying I get it - scoring a ton is one of the great feats in cricket. (One I haven't done, if you don't count belting my then 4 year old around on the driveway) However in a team sport, the century mark often puts the individual fairly and squarely ahead of the team. Mediocre cricketers to play 100 tests

With Johnny Bairstow aka The Human Couch gearing up for this 100th test, it’s got me thinking - where does his rank in terms of absolute mediocrity to reach this coveted milestone? Originally a keeper but no longer good enough to keep so they got someone else in but somehow he’s still in the team as a number 5 batsman averaging 36. Doesn’t bowl. No longer keeps. And as a keeper his technique is diabolical. I can’t think of many worse keepers. Staggering he’s made it to 100 tests... Read more ..read more
