CHICAGO (CBS) – One person is dead, and four others were injured following a roll-over crash on Interstate-94 early Saturday morning, according to Illinois State Police. Initial reports say ISP responded to a crash around 4:43 a.m. on I-94 southbound ramp to Illinois Route 394 southbound, South Holland. One person was pronounced dead on the scene. CHICAGO (CBS) — A man and woman were arrested Thursday morning following an incident that left two officers accidentally shot in west suburban Lyons Wednesday night, according to Lyons police Chief Thomas Heroin. A license plate reader notified police of a car on DuSable Lake Shore Drive wanted in connection with a murder in South Holland. CHICAGO (CBS) — A vacant building in South Holland partially collapsed on Wednesday, apparently under the weight of heavy snow. South Holland Deputy Fire Chief Bryant Krizik said part of a vacant storage building near 166th and State collapsed sometime on Wednesday, although it wasn’t clear exactly when it happened. CHICAGO (CBS) — Three men have been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of kidnapping several people at gunpoint in the south and west suburbs, prosecutors announced Monday. The U.S. Attorney’s office said the defendants carried out two kidnappings in Naperville and Westchester last year, and attempted a third in South Holland. Charged with participating in a kidnapping conspiracy were Sedgwick Williams, 43, of Chicago; Ivan Ayers, 33, of Chicago; and Tai Hon La, 31, of Beach Park. CHICAGO (CBS) — Family and friends gathered at the Smits Funeral Home in Dyer, Indiana to say goodbye to firefighter Dylan Cunningham. The funeral home streamed the service so more people can attend online because of COVID-19 restrictions. The South Holland Fire Department chaplain is officiating. Cunningham became a fulltime firefighter in 2018, but has been with the department since 2011. He died last week during an diving training accident. CHICAGO (CBS) — A South Holland firefighter died during a training accident Wednesday night at a quarry in Kankakee. Village leaders announced the firefighter’s death Thursday morning, but did not provide much detail about what happened. South Holland Firefighter Dylan Cunningham, of Thornton, was diving during a training exercise at Haigh Quarry in Kankakee around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.
