NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A judge has found the man accused of carrying out a deadly machete attack at the Rockland County home of a rabbi unfit to stand trial. Grafton Thomas appeared in court Wednesday. He’s accused of barging into the Monsey home of a rabbi in December 2019 and attacking orthodox Jews. One victim later died of his injuries. A judge found Thomas lacked the capacity to understand the proceedings against him, or to his assist his own defense. NEW CITY, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) — A 59-year-old Rockland County man got to go home without serving time in prison, after admitting to sex acts on seven different occasions with a 14-year-old boy. Moishe Turner of Monsey was sentenced to 10 years’ probation Tuesday in Rockland County. He pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal sex act on Jan. 18. SLOATSBURG, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – A head-on collision on the New York State Thruway has left a woman dead and her husband hospitalized. New York State police said Alvin Lapides, 81, of Monsey was driving north in the southbound lanes of Interstate 87 in Rockland County Tuesday night when he struck a Volvo driven by a 17-year-old boy.
