MOUNTAIN LAKES, NJ - In their previous 11 wins this season, the Summit High School Girls Varsity Lacrosse Team had scored just under 14 goals per game. Thirteen point seven-two to be exact. Against Mountain Lakes, the Hilltoppers dropped a 15-spot. In the first half. While rules stipulate that girls prep lacrosse games consist of two halves, each 25-minutes-long, this tilt could have been called halfway through, as the Maroon and White took a 15-4 lead at the break before sailing to the finish line and a 20-6 victory over the Lakers. SUMMIT, NJ - Merriam-Webster defines "half" as "either of two equal parts that compose something." Technically, each half of the Summit High School Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team's game versus Columbia on the Stadium field at Tatlock Park was an equal part. Two halves -- each comprised of two quarters, 24 minutes of game clock time. But in terms of competition, they were pretty darn far from equal. The first half saw a feisty tilt, chock-full of Hilltopper shots and a bunch of stops from Cougars' goalie Sam Busch. The Hilltoppers led, but the low scoring 4-1 affair meant the game wa ..read more

SUMMIT, NJ - In a rare case of incremental identical identity, the Summit High School Girls Varsity Lacrosse Team found themselves -- for the second time in 50ish hours -- lined up against a group of Blue Devils on the Upper Turf Field. This time, however, the visitors were wearing sky blue, not royal blue, and they traveled not from another Union County burg, but rather from another state. Another difference? This tilt -- unlike the Hilltoppers' comfortable May 9 victory over Westfield -- would be hotly contested from wire-to-wire, with Springside Chestnut Hill Academy of ..read more
