While browsing the beer and cider section at Central Co-op in Seattle, we were pleasantly surprised to find an extensive collection of ciders. We stumbled upon this cider just as we were leaving, and couldn’t help but add it to our bag. There’s nothing that goes better with a PNW hike than a local cider! While most people weight train with backpacks full of gear, we found cider to be a rewarding replacement. Getting to the top of a mountain and popping open a cider might become a tradition.

Our first Apfelwein, German for apple wine, or as we know it, CIDER! We also discovered a new fruit, quince, which is a neither-apple-nor-pear variety used to refine this cider. We were introduced to this cider through our very own local cider bar, Capitol Cider. We all have heard about how great German beer is, well now we know what German cider has to offer.

As a completely original idea during quarantine, we have taken to baking sourdough bread. This post honors Milton, the sourdough starter that flour-ished in the oven and grew to be the loaf you see today. We had never heard of a honey cider made with wine yeast before and this one sure was different!
