What are the Best Skincare Products for Oily Skin
My London Lifestyle

If you’ve read my previous skincare posts, you may know that I have very problematic skin. It’s extremely oily and acne prone and I get eczema a lot too. Unfortunately a great deal of this is genetic (thanks, dad!), so it can’t completely be “cured”. But thankfully a healthy diet and a good skincare routine can make a big difference. Over the past decades skincare has become more and more inclusive to different skin types, so that’s good news for those with problematic skin. But on the other hand, it also makes the world of skincare a very complicated web to navigate! Thankfully I found some ..read more

Weekend Wanders
My London Lifestyle
by Marjolein

This time of the year always makes me feel so delighted to be living in West London. There is just something about those white plastered houses combined with blossoms that works so well (more examples here). Especially on a beautiful sunny day. Lately I my work has required me to spend time in a couple of very depressing north eastern neighbourhoods like Dagenham and Wood Green. So I decided to use my weekends to go for wanders around some of London’s nicer neighbourhoods, such as Notting Hill and South Kensington to lift my spirits a little bit. And by wandering, I literally mean just wan ..read more

The Ultimate Guide to Spring in London
My London Lifestyle
by Marjolein

When I first moved to London I made a whole bucket list of places I wanted to see in the springtime. I had only seen the city in autumn and Christmas time and I so wanted to see how the city would look different when it was in bloom. Now this is harder than it looks, because this is nature. And nature has a will of its own! The trees bloom in their own time and sometimes you arrive at a spot at the crack of dawn. Your trusty camera in hand, and the blossom is either gone, or it hasn’t started blooming yet. I know, frustrating right! But over the years I’ve made a bit of a guide, so hear me ..read more

Osterley House and Garden
My London Lifestyle

On Sunday Aya and I went to Osterley House and Gardens. My running friends may know Osterley Park from the parkrun that takes place there every Saturday morning. However, Osterley park is also known for its beautiful stately house. The history of Osterley House goes back to the 18th century. Now it is owned by the National Trust, which means anyone is welcome to pay a visit. The house has beautiful staircases. Unfortunately they’re renovating upstairs, so this is all I can show you, I’m afraid. But look at that beautiful ceiling. I can’t wait to show you more after renovations are finish ..read more

My London Lifestyle

Jump to Recipe Lately things have been super stressful with my job, and so I’ve been in a desperate need for good old fashioned comfort food. And this Mac N Cheese is the ultimate comfort food recipe. Quick, easy to make and only needs a few ingredients you probably already have in your cupboard, so it’s cheap too. What more do you want? If you are vegan or lactose intolerant and you’re reading this thinking: “Holy cow, that is a lot of dairy!”, don’t fret. All the ingredients (even the cheese) have dairy-free versions you can shop at the bottom. To make enough for 2, you need: 250g macaroni ..read more

2024 update: Post-Holiday Meal Plan
My London Lifestyle
by Marjolein

I thought this post really deserved an update, because it received a sudden surge in popularity. And I’m not surprised. Around the New Year everyone feels bloated from Christmas and NYE. I felt the exact same way! After 2 weeks of roasts, mince pies, stollen, cakes, chocolates, wine, cheese champagne, oliebollen and what not, I returned to London feeling a stone heavier. Post-holiday bloat is not an uncommon thing and a lot of people seem to be experiencing some form of bloating after coming back from a care-free and indulgent holiday. And not just Christmas! I initially wrote this post when ..read more

Christmas Shopping in London, 2023
My London Lifestyle
by Marjolein

Of course most of us in London – myself included – prefer to do our Christmas shopping in our pyjamas. A glass of wine in hand and a laptop propped on my knee. It may be a lot less crowded than let’s say Regent Street. But it just doesn’t quite have the same vibe to it, does it? A location in London I always love to return to for some Christmas shopping is the Burlington Arcade. Its wreaths and arches give it such a magical vibe! Especially this year it looked extra special. It’s usually busy. But as they say: the early bird gets the worm. And thankfully Dominika and I are always up early ..read more
