19 Scrappy Pieced Doll Quilts

Trying to use up the never-ending Pile O Scraps!!! Okay that is impossible to do! You end up with more scraps after cutting the backing fabric, and binding (if you use binding), and smaller scraps after using larger scraps, so the scraps keep on coming, lol! That's okay, because sometimes you need a mindless scrappy project to sew and sewing scrappy quilts, whether large or small is just satisfying. I do use up some scraps (even if it doesn't appear so) and making these doll quilts for a charitable cause is also something to feel good about as well.  My quilt group makes doll quilts all ..read more

Hooded Knit Cowl

A friend asked me if I could finish knitting this hooded cowl that she had started. I wanted to see it first to make sure it was something I was able to knit. It looked easy enough to knit, so I took it on and knit it, but I ripped out what she had knit and started from the beginning because I wanted to make sure that it was all knit in my tension. It didn't take long to knit. It is a free pattern on Ravelry too, even though she gave me the printed instructions to use. I do like looking up patterns to make sure there aren't any errata's for the pattern.  My head model here to show you h ..read more

Oops, I got this posting out of order. I thought I had shared it and I hadn't yet.  15 more purses made for Sew Powerful Purse Project. These are the rest of the purses using that batik print with metallic gold that my friend Tara, gave to me more than a year ago. I was able to make 20 total purses using the batik fabric for the 20 purse exteriors, and using a bit of the scraps leftover to create the scrappy pieced purse flaps, along with lots of other fabric scraps too! With some added buttons and serpentine stitching in metallic gold along the center of the webbing straps for added bli ..read more

I completed the purse after receiving the 2nd Flap of Friendship that I signed up to do. This one was made by Susan from Florida. She made it scrappy!!! I posted just the flap in the Facebook Group and Susan commented that was her first scrappy flap she ever made! Gosh, I couldn't believe it. It was pieced so perfectly and colorful scraps too, which is just my style! I completed the purse a couple days after I received, but the weather has been windy or rainy or both, so taking a good photo wasn't going to happen for a while. Yesterday the sun came out for a little while, so I was able to snap ..read more

Hen Party Quilt

I finally finished this quilt! I had the blocks done for years, so I wanted to get it done! I made it a bit smaller than the pattern from Fat Cat Designs by not adding the outer border. Originally I was going to sew on button eyes, but these cute, crazy, whacky chickens needed Googly Eyes!!!! Googly Eyes enhances their personalities, don't you think? I didn't have any chicken wire fabric when I began making these blocks, so I bought a stencil and painted on the chicken wire. Now I can have chicken wire fabric anytime I want to and in any color wire and fabric color ..read more

Sew Powerful Purses #32-36 (for 2024)

My good friend, Tara gave me the batik fabric with the metallic gold elephants and pretty print with more gold that I used for the exterior bodies of these purses. I actually was able to cut out enough exteriors to make 20 purses in total (still sewing most of them). It is the perfect fabric to use to make these purses for the young ladies in Zambia to help them to stay in school all month, every month. I used a scrap piece of the batik fabric in each purse flap and then added other scraps of fabrics I had that went well with the batik fabric. So each purse flap is scrappy and different. (7) Portable Pockets in Southwest Fabric Prints

I made 7 total Portable Pockets in Southwest fabric prints. This is an Around the Bobbin pattern that I had tested awhile ago and just love these pockets. They are so handy for so many things and come in 3 sizes: Small (4' x 5"), Medium (5" x 6") & Large (6" x 8").  This print I made in all 3 sizes. You can store all of the Portable Pockets (PP) inside the large one. This is the front side that has a zipper pocket. I used whatever zipper I had on hand that was the correct size and color that would work best with the print. I added a small key ring on to each of the tabs on th ..read more

Flap of Friendship I Received & Made into a Purse for Sew Powerful (#31 for 2024)

This is the purse flap I finally received in the mail. The maker of this flap had pneumonia, so she couldn't make it right away. She sewed on a lace butterfly and stitched a decorative topstitching around the flap. (Shhh.... don't tell her that she got the fabric upside down. It is a pretty print and maybe no one else will notice?) I am too observant about such things. That is why I make a good pattern tester as I catch a lot of the goofs in the patterns I test, lol!  Here is the Flap of Friendship that I received. Such a pretty print in pretty colors. And here is the com ..read more
