The Coronado High School Band, led by Matt Heinecke, recently showcased their considerable talent at the California Music Educators Association (CMEA) Band and Orchestra Festival on April 12 at Lewis Middle School in San Diego.

The San Diego Mojo Women’s Professional Volleyball team pulled off a remarkable upset against the league’s second-ranked Omaha Supernovas, winning in thrilling five-set fashion, 19-25, 25-17, 25-22, 21-25, 15-8, at SDSU’s Viejas Arena on Tuesday evening. The Mojo have won five of their last seven matches and are sitting solidly in the coveted fourth place in the league. On Wednesday, April 17 the Coronado Girls Lacrosse team was looking forward to celebrating Senior Night as they took on the Scripps Ranch Falcons. With determination and great team connection, the Islanders took down the Falcons 18-10 in their last regular season home game.

Jump rope teams from California and Arizona will converge on Coronado this weekend for the Southern California Jump Rope Open. This will be the first competition and workshop in California since the pandemic.
This year’s competition will take place Saturday, April 27 in the Coronado High School gymnasium, from 9:15 am until about 4 pm. Watching the event is free and open to the public.
