The Life of A.W.Tozer – A Review
Devotional Treasures

Amazon UK Canada USA I just recently finished reading an interesting book, the biography of A.W.Tozer by James L. Snyder. I have been fond of the writings of A.W. Tozer for some years, being introduced to them by a dear brother in Christ (a former pastor). “The Pursuit of God” was my first book by A.W.s, and it has deeply impacted my personal walk with God for the better. This biography was an easy read, yet some passages certainly needed more thought and prayer as they challenged me. When a foreword of such a biography begins with a commendation by Leonard Ravenhhill, you know that the man ..read more

Riverside Museum, Glasgow, Scotland. https://www.facebook.com/SpectacularScotland So He said, “A nobleman went to a distant country to receive a kingdom for himself, and then return. And he called ten of his slaves, and gave them ten minas and said to them, ‘Do business with this until I come back.’ But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, ‘We do not want this man to reign over us.’ When he returned, after receiving the kingdom, he ordered that these slaves, to whom he had given the money, be called to him so that he might know what business they had done. The first ..read more

Sunset at Dunfermline Abbey, Fife, Scotland.  Photography courtesy of Ben Bremner,  https://www.facebook.com/ben.bremner3 The angel of the LORD appeared to him and said to him, “The LORD is with you, O valiant warrior.” Judges 6:12 (NASB) It is nice to be appreciated by folk, isn’t it? It is especially nice when friends say nice things to us which are unexpected, when we are feeling a bit down. There are times when I have wondered about the value of my service, only for Father God to send someone alongside me to encourage me. Those who know us see our life from a different angle, see ..read more

Stuck In The Mud – Repost

The Muddy Path, Photo courtesy of Nathan Berry, Image Copyright 2022 TakeN Photography I was reminded of this post from 2022 yesterday through the preaching at the Mustard Seed; Christ is my Rock on which I stand! The text in this post is precious to me; it was important in leading me to faith in my Lord and Saviour – He lifted me out of the mud! I waited patiently for the LORD; And He inclined to me and heard my cry. He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, And He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to ..read more

Photography courtesy of Ben and Donna Bremner, https://www.facebook.com/ben.donna.grand.day.out Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness, Who seek the LORD: Look to the rock from which you were hewn And to the quarry from which you were dug. Isaiah 51:1 (NASB) This Lord’s day (yesterday) saw the visit of brother David Randall to our wee fellowship at the Mustard Seed in Glenrothes. He brought an engaging message from God’s Word on the subject of seeking Christ our Rock, in a lost world. His message was one of great urgency considering the days that w ..read more

Psalm Sunday (119:101)

I have restrained my feet from every evil way, That I may keep Your word. Psalm 119:101 (NASB) In this Lord’s day verse from David in Psalm 119 we are faced with a perplexity experienced by all children of God; the place of temptations and sin in the life of the believer. It is almost akin to the question, “what comes first, the chicken or the egg?” We know from scripture that we are born with sin (Psalm 51:5), but in the above verse says clearly that sin keeps us from obeying God’s Word. This reminds me of the old saying, “sin will keep you from the Bible, and the Bible will keep you from si ..read more

Photography courtesy of Ben and Donna Bremner, https://www.facebook.com/ben.donna.grand.day.out Since we have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, each of us is to exercise them accordingly … Romans 12:6a (NASB) Even though I was unable to be at Bible Study this Wednesday due to illness, I was extremely blessed by the video of the message brought by brother John. He continued in his Study series through the Epistle of Romans and alighted upon the subject of gifts; that is gifts given to each of us to serve God, whether th ..read more

Boddam Lighthouse Sunrise, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Photography courtesy of Ben Bremner, https://www.facebook.com/ben.bremner3 Then Joseph brought his father Jacob and presented him to Pharaoh; and Jacob blessed Pharaoh. Genesis 47:7 (NASB) Of the many stories in the Bible, there are some that stand out that I would like to have witnessed – today’s verse highlights one of these incidents. Here we have the ruler of Egypt, a very powerful man granting an audience to Jacob who wasn’t a king. But Jacob was God’s man, serving Him as the father and ruler of His chosen people. Joseph presented his fa ..read more

Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD! Psalm 150:6 (NASB) This repost is a simple reminder of our Father God’s presence and provisions in life, even when it is hard. It has been posted on Kingdom Winds today. I have an old mug I bought many years ago from the Christian Bookshop in Cupar; it has today’s verse on it. It is a timely reminder every morning as I wait on the kettle boiling water for my coffee; God is Good! I am awake and breathing for another day; yesterday may have been hard but God has blessed me again. Another daily reminder is the birds I hear and see ..read more
