We’re officially one week away from the 2024 NFL draft and those around the league are making their final predictions. The Atlanta Falcons are slated for the No. 8 pick, but thanks to the Calvin Ridley trade, the team has an additional third-round selection (No. 79 overall). Atlanta has four picks in the top 80, which gives general manager Terry Fontenot some serious ammo to work with. Alabama’s Dallas Turner has become the popular mock projection for the Falcons in Round 1, but we’re seeing the team take a variety of different routes in Rounds 2-7. The Athletic’s Dane Brugler released a new ..read more

Every Falcons draft pick under general manager Terry Fontenot
The Falcons Wire

Just because the Atlanta Falcons changed head coaches during the offseason doesn’t mean the team hasn’t improved under general manager Terry Fontenot since he took over in 2021. While the quarterback position has held the Falcons back, the rest of the roster has come a long way in terms of depth and overall talent. With QB Kirk Cousins signing with Atlanta as a free agent and head coach Raheem Morris taking Arthur Smith’s place, the team may finally get over the hump in 2024. Since we’re just one week away from the 2024 NFL draft, we figured it was a good time to examine the last three draft ..read more

The Atlanta Falcons surprised many around the NFL when they hired Raheem Morris as the 19th head coach in franchise history. While Morris was more than qualified for the job, former Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was believed to be the front-runner throughout the team’s coaching search. Belichick even met with Falcons owner Arthur Blank on his private yacht, which led many to assume a deal was imminent. Not only did Belichick get passed over by Atlanta, but the six-time Super Bowl champion was unable to secure a job despite eight different head coach openings around the league. In a new E ..read more

While many NFL analysts expect the Atlanta Falcons to address the cornerback position in the upcoming draft, it remains to be seen how early the team plans to do so. Two players, Alabama’s Terrion Arnold and Toledo’s Quinyon Mitchell, are considered first-round locks at the position. Could the Falcons target one of these two at pick No. 8? The team previously met with Mitchell on a top-30 draft visit, and according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Atlanta also visited with Arnold. The Alabama cornerback picked off five interceptions for the Crimson Tide last season, finishing with a Pro Fo ..read more

Without an established quarterback in place, the Atlanta Falcons missed the playoffs yet again in 2023. After bringing in head coach Raheem Morris to replace Arthur Smith, the team signed quarterback Kirk Cousins to replace Desmond Ridder on the opening day of free agency. Despite signing Cousins, the Falcons could still add a quarterback in the 2024 NFL draft. We don’t expect the team to go after a QB on Day 1, however, Atlanta may target one of the many mid-round QB prospects in this year’s class. One of those potential targets is South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler. The Falcons hoste ..read more

Falcons bolster defense after trading down in new 7-round mock draft
The Falcons Wire
by Matt Urben

Barring some sort of tampering punishment by the NFL, the Atlanta Falcons will have the eighth overall for the third consecutive draft. Even if the Falcons can keep their first-round pick, there’s a good chance that general manager Terry Fontenot will surprise fans with his selection once again. Alabama EDGE Dallas Turner has become the trendy pick among the media and fans, but Atlanta’s front office firmly believes in drafting for value over need. At this point, it’s tough to know whether or not the Falcons view Turner as someone worthy of the No. 8 pick. If one of the top WR prospects — lik ..read more
