Gov. Greg Abbott also announced drive-through testing capabilities in San Antonio, which could expand to Dallas, Houston and Austin in the coming weeks. Edgar Walters Texas Tribune Gov. Greg Abbott declared Friday that the new coronavirus is a statewide public health disaster and said that Texas is on the verge of being able to significantly ramp up its testing capacity. Misty Holler Staff Writer The last two weeks have been unlike any others in recent past. While Forney ISD was taking its regularly scheduled Spring Break during the week of March 9-13, administrators for the ISD spent the latter part of the week in discussions with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) in order to formulate the most beneficial response to the CO-VID-19/Coronavirus health crisis sweeping the nation. Taylor Jeffs Savannah Gunn threw a perfect game on Tuesday to lead North Forney Lady Falcons Varsity past Lancaster 20-0. Gunn struck out Faith Shavers to end the game. North Forney Lady Falcons Varsity got things started in the first inning. An error scored two runs for North Forney Lady Falcons Varsity. North Forney Lady Falcons Varsity tallied seven runs in the fourth inning. Chris Syjansky The varsity boys and girls team played at Dallas Athletic Club on March 2. The girls played the gold course and the boys played the Blue course. The boys team finished 12 place overall and was led by Junior Justin Morris. Other notables were Senior Luke Preston, Sophomore Austin George, and Junior Vincent Coronado.The girls team finished 5th place overall in the event and was led by Junior Hannah Preston. Trisha Williamson Forney High Girls Soccer Team claims the 13-5A title of District Champs. This win clinched the top spot for Forney with two games left to play. Lady Rabbits defeated Poteet 3-1 in an aggressive match at Memorial Stadium. Lady Rabbits scored first with an assist from Fallon Weatherford to Kasey Carter. Poteet was awarded a penalty kick to equalize (only the 2nd goal allowed in district).
