Vegan Chocolate Cloud Cake

This vegan chocolate cloud cake is the perfect dessert cake. This vegan chocolate cloud cake is great for any occasion. A rich dense chocolate sponge topped with billowing spoons of whipped cream then topped off with stunning red fruit. I got the idea for this cake when I wanted a rich chocolate cake, but didn’t want the usual accompanying rich, heavy icing. Chocolate cakes are usually paired with more chocolate, in the form of silky ganache or buttercream. By using whipped cream in place of those dark chocolate toppings, it balances out the cake, meaning you can eat more than one slice; which ..read more

Since I last wrote about my top vegan-friendly cafes in Sheffield. So many more have opened. It is amazing to see so many places thriving so soon after lockdown. These are definitely going to be places I visit time and time again. I am definitely spoilt for choice living in Sheffield, but coffee shops and restaurants have definitely upped their vegan offering over the last couple of years. it is very unusual for them not to offer plant-based milk for coffee, even if you do have to pay extra. Vegan cakes and sandwiches are also usually on offer. Tigs Vegetarian with plenty of vegan options Tigs ..read more

One of the joys of having a sourdough starter for me is finding creative recipes for the sourdough discard. These vegan sourdough chocolate chip cookies always go down a treat. The sourdough discard gives the cookies an incredible depth of flavour and a chewier texture which I love. The combination of brown sugar, butter, sourdough and dark chocolate chips make these sourdough chocolate chip cookies so indulgent and unique. This recipe makes around 24 cookies so feel free to half the recipe if you wish. I always make a big batch of cookies and keep half the batch in the freezer so I can bake t ..read more

This Vegan Peach and Almond Cake makes the most of the season’s fruit. A fluffy almond sponge is topped with juicy peaches and zingy raspberries. The upside-down cake makes for a beautiful centrepiece with minimal work from you. I love the contrast between the orange peach and bright pink raspberries, it looks so colourful and summery. This cake is so versatile, you can top it with whatever fruit you have to hand. Go traditional with thinly slices apples and a sprinkle of cinnamon or use frozen berries for a storecupboard friendly cake. Bakes like this are perfect for using up fruit that might ..read more

Sheffield is fast becoming one of the vegan hotspots of the North. With plenty of vegan-friendly restaurants and cafes – both established and new- spanning across the whole city. Sharrow Vale Road is the first post of (hopefully) many, covering all areas within Sheffield and my favourite vegan places to visit. Sharrow Vale Road is parallel to the busy Ecclesall road. It is a road packed full of independent treasures and beats Ecclesall road to the top spot to grab a coffee or meal in the area. If you want to make a day of exploring the area, head to the botanical gardens and walk through the i ..read more

This crunchy peanut butter granola is the perfect sweet breakfast to wake up to. Studded with nuts and seeds to add plenty of texture. Wholesome oats are coated in a sticky mix of brown sugar, butter and peanut butter before being roasted to create delicious toasty flavours. This granola creates chunky bits – perfect for snacking on – as well as wonderful crumbly bits which are the best thing on top of a bowl of oat yoghurt. I love granola I always have some on hand for a lazy breakfast or a mid-afternoon snack. This granola does contain quite a lot of sugar so I like to balance it out with ta ..read more
