Sacramento Kings star De’Aaron Fox’s biggest nemesis in his NBA career has been his storied Northern California neighbor: The Golden State Warriors.
Fox has a 6-11 regular-season record against the Warriors since beginning his career in Sacramento in 2017. When the 2023 NBA All-Star made his first NBA playoff appearance last season, it was the lower-seeded Warriors who eliminated his Kings in Sacramento in a deciding seventh game after guard Stephen Curry scored 50 points. Two of the Kings’ six losses this season have come from the Warriors.
On Tuesday night, there is an opportunity for Fox to ..read more

It’s going to be odd, yet memorable for Keegan Murray when he is reunited with his twin brother Kris Wednesday night on an NBA floor.
The Murray twins have spent most of their 23 years together, but they will be opponents for the first time on Wednesday night. Keegan’s Sacramento Kings will host his brother Kris’ Portland Trail Blazers. The Murrays are the eighth pair of twins in NBA history.
“This can be weird because we’ve never been on opposite sidelines before,” Keegan Murray told Andscape. “So, it’s going to be different. But it’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing. Having a twin brother be in th ..read more

SACRAMENTO – While the Sacramento Kings finally making the postseason was stunning to the NBA world and life-changing for many Sacramentans after a 17-year absence, it wasn’t for the 2022-23 NBA Coach of the Year. A year ago, in their first team dinner, first-year Kings coach Mike Brown boldly told his players that the franchise would make the postseason for the first time since 2006.
And as bold as Brown’s prediction was then, it pales compared to what he predicted for the Kings at their first team dinner this season.
“I told ’em that the elephant in the room is not as pink this year,” Brown ..read more

CHICAGO – Next week’s 77th edition of the NBA draft could propel Iowa’s Kris Murray into rare air.
Last year, just before the Sacramento Kings selected Murray’s twin, Keegan, fourth overall, the televised image generated a shared laugh from the twins.
“They announce Keegan’s name and, as he walks to the podium, it’s my headshot from Iowa,” Kris Murray said. “So, technically, he didn’t get drafted.”
Which means Keegan hopes for a bit of redemption when his brother’s name is called next week.
“They can at least put my face on the screen when Kris is drafted,” Keegan Murray said, laughing ..read more

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Harrison Barnes will forever be part of the fabric of the Golden State Warriors’ 2015 NBA championship banner hanging in the rafters at Chase Center. Outside of that banner, the Warriors’ relatively new venue in San Francisco feels like just any other NBA arena to Barnes, who was a starter on that Warriors title team.
Now a forward with the Sacramento Kings forward, his heart and championship memories with the Warriors mainly lie on the other side of the Bay Bridge at their old home of Oracle Arena in Oakland.
“I love Oracle,” Barnes told Andscape after the Kings’ 114-106 ..read more

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The 17-year playoff drought was over as the game clock struck zero on the Sacramento Kings’ 120-80 road victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on March 29. Kings fans who made the trek to Portland, in Sacramento and as far away as India could finally let go of the ridiculed past and let in the reality of finally making it back to the postseason. And the Kings’ most ardent fan, their owner Vivek Ranadive, was suddenly overcome with emotion after watching the result from his San Francisco Bay Area home of Atherton.
“It was great joy. I’ve been wanting this for our fans and ..read more

SACRAMENTO – Since 2007, the Sacramento Kings have been spectators while their fellow NBA teams have played in the postseason. Among the NBA, NFL, NHL or MLB, no franchise has a current postseason absence longer than Sacramento. Today’s surprising Kings, however, are realistically talking playoffs as the NBA regular season enters its final stretch.
The city of Sacramento has first-year Kings head coach Mike Brown to thank for playing a key role in putting the franchise in reach of the elusive playoffs. But until the Kings’ playoff dream is a reality, he would prefer all invested take the “mara ..read more

SACRAMENTO – For Sacramento Kings star De’Aaron Fox and his newlywed wife, Recee, it is truly love and basketball.
“After games, I definitely pick and choose what to say to him,” Recee said. “If he has a bad game, a lot of the times my thing is, ‘Did you stay healthy? Are you happy?’ That’s what I care about. Obviously, he’s not going to be happy that he lost, but De’Aaron as a human being first is what I care about. This basketball stuff will be good for 12 years, and then it’s going to be our relationship that we have to focus on after.”
Said Fox: “I trust her opinion. She worked in player d ..read more

LAS VEGAS — Whether Joe Dumars was shooting a jumper, winning an NBA title as a player or executive, or making an imprint on the rules of the game, the Basketball Hall of Famer has worked by one motto.
“Everything from a player to the front office to this now, I walk in and say, ‘Failure is not an option,’ ” Dumars told Andscape recently. “What I need to do is succeed.”
Dumars began his new role as the NBA’s executive vice president and head of basketball operations on May 9 after working three seasons with the Sacramento Kings, the last two as chief strategy officer. The former Detroit Piston ..read more

SAN FRANCISCO — Playoffs?
The Sacramento Kings haven’t been to the NBA playoffs since 2006, when rookie forward Keegan Murray was 5 years old. The franchise is also starting over with coach Mike Brown, its 12th coach since last making the postseason. At this point, just making it to the play-in tournament would seem like a major step forward for the Kings.
Murray, however, isn’t settling.
“The big thing we talked about when I came here was the playoff drought that they’ve been on and we’ve put a lot of good pieces together,” Murray told Andscape. “The chemistry is there. So, getting to the pla ..read more
