GREENFIELD A 17-year-old Greenfield boy is in a juvenile detention facility today after being arrested Tuesday for allegedly selling handgun "switches" or machine gun conversion devices. The teen was taken into custody at his residence in the Saw Mill neighborhood on the west side of Greenfield after an investigators witnessed the teen participate in a hand-to-hand exchange with another person. GREENFIELD Elanco Animal Health on Monday announced plans to cut 420 jobs as part of a "strategic restructuring." The layoffs will save the company about $30- to $35-million a year, Elanco said in a news release. Elanco reported a $141-million loss in the fourth quarter of 2023 and losses of $1.2 billion for all of last year. GREENFIELD A 26-year-old Greenfield man has been arrested after two children reported the man touched them inappropriately under his care at the YMCA after-school program hosted by J.B. Stephens Elementary school. According to Greenfield PD, Jericho Johnson was arrested after parents called 911 on Feb. 14 to report he had touched their child. HANCOCK COUNTY All lanes of US 40 in Greenfield were closed Thursday morning as crews investigated a fatal incident. According to the Hancock County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched at 3:53 a.m. to U.S. 40 between Mount Comfort Road and S 500 W for a person lying in the roadway. A deputy, who did not see the person lying in the roadway as they were in dark clothes, struck the person. It is unclear if the person in the roadway was already dead, according to police. According to Fishers Police, officers stopped Greenfield officer Nichole Gilbert at around 1 a.m. on Sunday near 96th Street and Olio Road. GREENFIELD Last week, five members of what Greenfield police are calling a South American Theft Group (SATG) were arrested last week and face burglary charges.
