Plant sale to benefit EHHS CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Eastern Hancock High School Plant Sale continues now through May 11, raising money for the school’s greenhouse project and agricultural classes. The greenhouse is open 3:30-5:30 p.m. May 6; 5-7 p.m. May 7; 3:30-5:30 p.m. May 8; 5-7 p.m. May 9; 3:30-4:30 p.m. May 10; and 9 a.m. to noon May 11. NEW PALESTINE – With pink neon, poodle skirts, mullets and even medieval costumes to celebrate prom through the decades, the New Palestine Education Foundation raised thousands of dollars at its annual gala last month. The Prom of the Century Gala and Auction was April 12 at Adaggios banquet hall in Greenfield. GREENFIELD — A private Christian school is set to open in Greenfield this fall. Pathway Christian Academy is now accepting applications for students entering kindergarten through second grade. GREEN ALERT: New alert will help locate at-risk veterans

STATEHOUSE – Legislation that passed unanimously this past session will create a new alert that will help locate missing and at-risk veterans. House Enrolled Act (HEA) 1021 creates what is called a Green Alert, which is similar to Indiana’s Amber Alerts and Silver alerts. This alert will be used to help notify the public when a veteran or military service member is reported missing and is believed to be at-risk of hurting themselves or others. GREENFIELD – Greenfield mom Stephanie Harder still can’t get over how the community came together to wish her son a happy birthday. She had a two-tier cake to feed 60 people at Noah’s 9th birthday party April 27. But nobody showed up. Book donations accepted this weekend GREENFIELD – Drop off gently used books, DVDs, CDs and video games this Saturday at the Hancock County Public Library. Donated items will be placed in book sales by the Friends of the Library, the non-profit charitable group of volunteers who raise money to help fund concerts, children’s performers and special projects at the library. HANCOCK COUNTY — An Indianapolis man is facing felony drug crimes after he was arrested and charged from an incident where officials found the presence of fentanyl in late April. According to court records, Randall Lee Simon, 41, 12000 block of Falling Leaves Trail, has been charged with a Level 2 felony count of dealing cocaine, a Level 2 felony count of dealing in a narcotic drug, a Level 4 felony count of possession of cocaine, a Level 4 felony count of possession of a narcotic drug, and a Class B misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana on April 27. Man with over 20 criminal cases caught in county burglary

HANCOCK COUNTY — An Indianapolis man with a lengthy criminal history is being accused of burglary and other crimes in the county following an incident in late April. Chad Robert Orme, 49, 900 block of North Olney Street is currently sitting in the Hancock County Jail under a $50,000 cash bond. He’s been charged with a Level 2 felony count of burglary; a Level 5 felony count of burglary, a Class A misdemeanor count of false identity and a Class A misdemeanor count of resisting law enforcement.
