NetherRealm has confirmed that Mortal Kombat 11 DLC support has ended and the studio is focusing its efforts on a new title. NeatherRealm added new characters to the game in November 2020 with Kombat Pack 2 – when Rambo, Mileena, and Rain joined the roster – and as per an announcement from the company, that’ll be the last set of new characters in the game. “NetherRealm is now focusing on its next project and after more than two years of supporting Mortal Kombat 11, DLC for the game, including characters, has come to an end,” said the developer in a tweet. Mortal Kombat film director says violence is pushed “right to the limit”

Gore and brutality? In Mortal Kombat? Are you sure? The upcoming Mortal Kombat movie apparently goes “right to the limit” of what it can get away with in terms of violence. That’s according to director Simon McQuoid, who told SFX Magazine – as reported by GamesRadar – that it takes its R rating seriously. Apparently, there’s stuff like someone ripping a foe’s heart out. You know, normal, cool stuff. “We wanted to push the [blood, gore and fatalities] right to the limit,” McQuoid said. He continued: “Obviously, there’s a point where the film becomes unreleasable if you push it too far, and tha ..read more

Johnny Cage’s notable absence from the Mortal Kombat movie has been picked up on by some dedicated fans, and now the film’s producer has finally revealed why the iconic character is missing. So far, we’ve seen a good number of the upcoming fighting game movie’s cast of characters: from new arrival to the roster, Cole Young (Lewis Tan) to longtime series veterans Sonya Blade (Jessica McNamee), Sub-Zero (Joe Taslim), Liu Kang (Ludi Lin), and Scorpion (Hiroyuki Sanada), there’s a lot to love if you’re a fan of NetherRealm’s incessantly violent franchise. But one of the gaming series’ key characte ..read more

Mortal Kombat 11 gets a first/third-person mod and it looks wild

Mortal Kombat 11 was never intended to be played in first or third-person, but what if it was? Mortal Kombat 11 is probably down on the list of games with an active modding scene, but every once in a while, someone decides to deliver a wild idea. We’ve seen camera mods before in NetherRealm’s latest, which offered a rare look at Fatalities and various stages from angles they weren’t meant to be seen. Modder Ermaccer’s contribution is MK11Hook, a modding suite that lets you mess around with the camera, control the game’s speed and more. MK11Hook is not unlike MKXHook, a similar plugin that ena ..read more

Best of 2020: Ghost of Tsushima, and Sherif’s other GOTY picks

It’s probably beyond trite at this point to say that 2020 has been a wild and weird year. This goes for most of us, but for me, games often existed in their own sphere, away from whatever real-world disasters have befallen us that year. That is to say, I usually have a pretty good idea what my game of the year is each year, well before we write these. I can’t emphatically champion any of the games I played in 2020, which is rare for me. But I can tell you that I enjoyed my time the most with Ghost of Tsushima this year. Stripped down to its core elements, Ghost of Tsushima is an old open-world ..read more

It’s going to be some time before the new Mortal Kombat movie is in kinemas. The upcoming reboot of the Mortal Kombat film franchise has been delayed. The news has come via producer Todd Garner, who replied to a fan asking about the movie’s release date on Twitter – as spotted by GamesRadar – saying that there was no word on a release date for either a trailer or the finished product. “We’d always planned for it and thought we’d do it in March,” Garner wrote. “The pandemic had other plans.
