Diving instructor is the best job in the world but it does come with some responsibility. Taking people scuba diving for the very first time does involve some risks. For instructors, it is important to be able to manage those risks. In my IDC I try to do much more than getting my instructor candidates to pass the instructor exam (IE). I try to teach them to become confident instructors and risk management is an important part of that. One of the subjects we discuss is environmental awareness. This is actually one of the points that you will be scored on during your teaching presentations on ..read more

As a PADI Pro, you get to witness anticipation turned into passion and fear changed into courage! Helping novice divers conquer tricky skills can be extremely rewarding and is one of the reasons why I love being a dive instructor. Let’s dive into a skill that is tough to master for many student divers: teaching mask clearing. Finding PADI Instructor jobs I always tell PADI Instructors that the best way to land a job is just to go to the location where you want to work and have a chat with the local dive centers. Of course that is not always possible. If you are sitting on your couch and browsing dive instructor job ads it’s not possible to jump on a plane to Mexico, Thailand, and Spain.   Not all jobs are online At this time, a year past the pandemic, there is still a huge shortage of PADI diving instructors so it is not difficult to find a diving job. Remember that many dive centers have a good list of conta ..read more

Already more than 2 years ago I came to an agreement with Joe’s Gone Diving to organize PADI IDC’s in Bali. Because of the pandemic, it took until this July before it actually happened. Now, the tourism in Bali is back to normal and it was actually quite busy, even if July is actually only the start of the main season. They have been running many PADI IDC’s and Divemaster programs in the past so their facilities, although small, are perfectly suited to run pro-level courses. An air-conditione ..read more
