BALTIMORE (WJZ) — A Maryland Natural Resources Police officer found himself rescuing a fawn when he went to remove a dead deer from a road in Eldersburg on Sunday, according to authorities. Officer Marney was dispatched to the Carroll County community after learning that a car had struck and killed a doe, police said.  When Marney arrived at the crash site, he found a fawn attempting to nurse on the dead deer, according to authorities. WESTMINSTER, Md. (AP) — A man who opened fire at a crowd of people standing outside an Eldersburg tavern, killing one, has been convicted of first-degree murder. A Carroll County Circuit Court jury also convicted Jacob Bircher, 25, of Westminster of 13 other crimes on Friday. Bircher was convicted of killing David J. Garrett,  36, of Sykesville on July 31, 2012 outside the Harvest Inn. ELDERSBURG, Md. (WJZ)– A 35-year-old man has died after a collision with another vehicle at an intersection in Eldersburg. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office said Leif Erik Foerter was driving a Jeep Wrangler going west on Piney Ridge Parkway when the vehicle hit a Honda Accord going north on Johnsonville Road. Troopers say late Tuesday 22-year-old Bergari Zardiashuili and 26-year-old Zamani Lawson of Jamaica, N.Y. were involved in a physical altercation behind a grocery store where the two were working for a cleaning company.
