Representatives from the Levittown Community Action Coalition (LCAC) virtually joined thousands of substance use and misuse prevention specialists and community coalition advocates for CADCA’s recent (Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America’s) 20th Annual Mid-Year Training Institute. Before I share my adventures with the COVID-19 vaccine, as a public service let me recommend the practice of cutting the straps on masks before discarding them. Birds and other wildlife are getting caught in disposed masks and we can save the life of animals by this one simple step. For three-plus decades, Carol Klein has given back to the world as children’s entertainer MisMatch, a professional clown specializing in balloon animals, magic and making kids of all ages smile. When Skylar Lynch turned seven on April 3, it was an equally joyous celebration for Last Hope Animal Rescue. The Levittown animal lover made it clear to her mother Ilene that rather than receive gifts, she wanted to raise money for Last Hope instead. For the month leading up to her daughter’s birthday, Ilene got the word out on Facebook to numerous community organizations including the Levittown Moms Group that Skylar was collecting donations for the Wantagh-based nonprofit.
