Reported just after 2:30 a.m., the incident occurred on Clara Street, where authorities found a man lying in the street, suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. Police have identified the suspect as Pedro Velasquez of Cudahy. The crash occurred about 5:20 p.m. Wednesday. LOS ANGELES (AP) — The former mayor of Cudahy has been sentenced to a year in prison for his role in taking cash bribes from a businessman who wanted to open a medical marijuana dispensary. A federal judge sentenced 62-year-old David Silva on Monday after the former elected official pleaded guilty to one count each of extortion and bribery.
